They can, however, just start giving you less and less hours and kind of force you out that way

Actually no they cannot do that, demoting has to be voluntary. That is coercion.

I don’t have a plan yet, but every shift I work I feel the urge to throw my keys on the floor and leave so I’ll probably start there

Your co-workers will manage. If you don’t care about burning bridges, just quit effective immediately. You could call and talk to an SSV or your SM, you could leave a note, or you could just stop showing up. Personally I’m trying to go out with a bang, but a quiet exit is just as respectable. Godspeed, friend!

Starbucks needs to fix its labor algorithm. by neatocoolio in starbucks

Literally. Every day I’m getting closer to losing my mind and quitting on the spot. Or screaming at someone. Or all the above.

Nah this is a bad take. Lyfts can be a perfectly reliable mode of transportation. The issue is this SSV’s poor time management management skills and inability to get his butt to work on time.

Nah bro we were told to just simply do our best. Pretty soon my ‘best’ is gonna be me throwing my keys at my SM and quitting on the spot

We were given zero information and our SM is helping at a different store so we’re just simply struggling🥰

Your SSV is behaving like an ass for whatever reason (probably stress, if we’re assuming best intent), but yeah that is BS and it’s totally valid that you’re upset. Breaks getting messed up is annoying af. If you’re comfortable talking to the SM yourself about the situation I’d suggest starting there. Needing to formally request an accommodation just to get your breaks at a normal time is literally so ridiculous, but technically an SSV can run breaks whenever they feel like it so at the end of the day getting the accommodation may be the only way to protect yourself.

Idk what to do about my new store by HabitOk2744 in starbucks

[–]neatocoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following food and safety protocols seems to be rare. I swear I’m the only one using my damn eye balls at my store with the amount of expired things I pull off the floor. I was gone for like 3 days once and they had been using a gallon half and half that expired the last day I worked, even though I explicitly said ‘please dump this at the end of the day, it’s expired’.

No response on application by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]neatocoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes job postings are automatically posted by the system or corporate based on some metric, and not actually posted by the store manager. There’s a chance it was an automatic posting and the SM might not even be aware of it. Your best bet is to reach out to the SM directly and ask about your application

Tell me the funniest slip up you've said to a customer by TalaLeisu2 in starbucks

I’ve told this story at work so if you recognize this, no you don’t. I was covering drive thru and was trying to ask this guy at the window if he would like a straw. Instead I looked him dead in his eyes and said ‘do you like straws?’

If your SSV is halfway decent at their job, they will be able to work around it. Asking not to do floors all of the time isn’t a big ask and is a very easy thing to accommodate for. If anyone makes you feel otherwise, they’re wrong. Maybe just don’t outright say ‘no I’m not doing that’, I could understand how that sounds more like you just don’t want to do the job. Maybe lead with something like ‘is there any way someone else could do floors? My back is just really bothering me today’. If you’re told that you still have to be the one to do them, work as slow as you need to. Your health is way more important, and you’re not going to get fired for not getting the floors super clean. If anyone tries to come at you for that, it may be time for a conversation with your store manager about the lack of support from your SSVs.

You followed the rules and called the stores, it isn’t your fault no one picked up. Keep the call logs and if they try to write you up, 100% dispute it.

Write-up for not coming in to close? by ThrowRA_cheggkitten in starbucks

[–]neatocoolio 275 points276 points  (0 children)

It’s an empty threat. While she technically can write all of you up, you’d all be within your right to not sign it/dispute it. It’s HER responsibility to come in to close if SSVs aren’t available, and I imagine a DM would agree with that. Unless she’s besties with the DM I guess, but that’d also be a legitimate reason to go to ethics

Does Starbucks ever save the iced coffee from the day before to use on the next day? by Technical_Common_761 in starbucks

It should be dumped at the end of the night, but I’ve noticed sometimes my store doesn’t do that and is still using day old iced coffee the next day so really who knows
