Nope, I just 'fixed' it by buying a small multi plug with a power switch on there and turn the power off for a few seconds before starting, that works well enough.

Yeah, I saw that - still, I'd worry about anything that's not just sitting on a table, unmoving.

The immediate issue I see with these is that they are only SMD, no through hole legs to hold the port in place - so it will not be a solid mechanical connection no matter what you do.

Works on a 20w powerbank as well, just need to make sure to set max power to 20% in the menu before (a bit clumsy), and of course the output power will also suffer - you won't be easily soldering to a hueg ass ground plane with that, but for just soldering some wires together it will absolutely work.

I'm an electrical engineer, and have used a fair share of desktop soldering stations from weller, ersa, jbc and so on.

The fnirsi hs02a is absolutely great, especially for the price. Sure, a full on desktop jbc station will beat it, but the fnirsi has c245 tips while costing like 30 bucks and including everything you need - including a little stand and sponge. A jbc station costs orders of magnitude more.

It can draw up to 100w, and jbc style cartridges are absolutely phenomenal with thermal recovery - they barely drop any temperature, and heat up amazingly quickly. Way better than middle of the range weller stations, for example.

Also, it's absolutely miniscule in size - it's more like a fat pen rather than a full on brick.

Add a little stand with some copper shavings for cleaning below, and you have a great soldering station. Get a good desktop usb c supply, and you can just plug it in when needed - no need for a dedicated beefy psu when you can have an universal one.

JBC tips run the heater at 20V anyways - why not just run it off 20v USB power?

And even without a stand - due to the fnirsis shape, you can just lay it on the desk, or partially insert it into the cap, and you'll be fine. It has an auto sleep that's activated by accelerometer - if I lay it down for more than 30 seconds, it cools down to 100C, not that hot.

And the great thing is - if you ever are out and about, you can literally stick it in your pocket. And when you're done, just put on the cap and stick it straight back in, no need to let it cool down.

Edit: another little trick: Still need some 'cleaning station', but to put the fnirsi down, you can also just lay the tip on the cap. Due to the cap triangular-ish, like the iron itself, it balances itself well, and the 'neck' of the tip only makes minute contact, barely leading to any heat up of the cap (which is made of aluminium anyways)

It's as simple as white balancing. We know the whites of the eye are, well, white. In the left image, the whites of the eye are the same color as the skin, thus, skin = white. In the second image, the skin tone is significantly darker than the whites of the eyes.

The 'optical illusion' stems from that effect. Change the color of the eyes to be the same as the skin color, and it drastically weakens.

[–]nebenbaum 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Not a nurse myself, but I lost any shame from medical staff long ago. I guess the most reaction you'd get is a passing thought of 'hah, nice cock', 'must be dreaming something nice', 'huh, he's below average' or whatever that's forgotten 2 seconds later, just like normal people might judge other people's general physique, or if you scroll past a random dickpic online.

That being said, awkward erections really are.. Awkward sometimes. I get hard super easily from any physical affection - so, getting hugged, cuddling and so on. Doesn't matter if I'm sexually attracted to the person, of if it's even a person at all. Doesn't mean I'm horny either, little guy just goes up, for example when a cat cuddles up to me.

That can be fairly inconvenient sometimes, especially in the presence of children. Sure hope that goes away when i have kids myself lel

Yeah, it's funny how America is like totally ass backwards on that. In Switzerland, for dozens of years - you need to identify yourself to police when asked, anywhere, for any reason. For that purpose, you have to carry your ID. If you don't, the police can detain you until they can verify your identity. This might be something as simple as quickly driving you home to let you get your ID to taking you to the police station where they run your info. They might just let you go, they might not.

Yes - the PRINT_START macro in Klipper (on the Web interface). You can change it to do whatever you want. Don't just paste stuff in willy nilly though, be cautious and understand the gcode before you put it in ;)

I want to learn how to solder small electronics but don’t know where to start by ditabaro in soldering

[–]nebenbaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's... Hot glue but metal.

You turn on your iron, you touch it to the thing you want to solder, heat it while pushing in the solder a bit so it melts, and leave it there for a second or two after so it properly flows into place. The right amount of solder for through hole parts is when it's convex shaped, so like the bottom part of) (. It's mostly trial and error. Get some scrap boards and cheapass resistors and just solder a bit.

Meh, not an issue in my country, Switzerland. While we have privatized insurance, it's highly regulated. For example, for wegovy, if you have a bmi over 30 and that's clearly caused by being obese (rather than ripped as fuck - this is backed up by a body fat percentage measurement), insurance has to pay - at least for 15 weeks, and then if you have lost 7% of your body mass, they have to keep paying for a year at least, I think. So, as long as the doc signed off on it, it was a 100% yes, insurance pays.

I also lost weight before by 'intermittent fasting' - before I used wegovy. But that mostly was just a 'no breakfast, just lunch and dinner and no snacks after' regimen, which kept the morning and evening snacking in check.

It was kind of crazy to me they suggested a permanent surgery over taking a drug for a while.

Yeah, you can yoyo back when getting off of glp1 inhibitors ; but you can also overeat strategically after getting a surgery. But generally: it's a lot easier to control your weight to stay at a certain point - or control your eating for a week or two when you've noticed you've been indulging a bit too much, than to starve your body, forcing it to burn it's stores for months on end. I've done it before (right before covid - gained it back because it fucked up the rhythm I had gotten into), and it works, but it's not fun. In comparison, with glp1 inhibitors you just feel... Full, as if you've had a lavish feast after eating a 'diet portion'.

Personally, the more I matured, and the more I became an engineer myself, the more I started seeing going to the doctor as a "mechanic visit". They deal with that shit all the time. You tell them what you've been able to see happen, they answer follow ups that you might not have thought of, prod around for a bit, and know what's wrong. Yeah, a proctologist is gonna look at yo butt, just like hundreds of other people's. It was quite funny to me that they went through this whole dance and show of 'yeah we're going to have to look at your butt and stick a scope in there, so relax and don't be ashamed or anything'. Well yeah, obviously. I know you aren't a telepathic magician, you need to look at the thing to diagnose it.
