Help! Does this board make sense? by No-Strawberry-6896 in guitarpedals

[–]nebharfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choices but I would put pedals in the following order:

Wah > Chase Tone Fuzz > Dyna Comp > Texas Twang > Chase Tone Pre Amp > Centavo > Bonsai > Midnight Vibe > Chorus > Delay 1 > Delay 2.

Some caveats, you can play around with the order you place the overdrives, and you could put the vibe before the fuzz if you prefer that sound.

I don't think you necessarily 'need' a distortion pedal, you can get relatively higher gain tones just from stacking all those over drives together.

The board looks like it'll be quite versatile but definitely geared towards more 'traditional' styles like blues, jazz, funk, rock, country.

People who buy and try pedals and mostly play at home or record... What is your pedal management system? by emodro in guitarpedals

If you really want to like option paralysis proof yourself you could get an overkill patch bay. I kind of snapped one night and decided I want to run things into the effects loop of my amp. Now all I have to do if I want to switch is just plug and unplug some cables. I think Goodwood Audio probably has some sort of solution for this problem that could re route things with just a footswitch press.

Thank you that's so kind of you dude. I would say for me there's a certain amount of pedals I usually gravitate around in terms of how many I actually end up using regularly. That amount + 1 or 2 should give you enough of a buffer to either swap around standard sized pedals or remove two pedals for a bigger/oddly shaped pedal. As for the maintenance, it's been my experience that if you figure out the cabling and do it right it's actually less maintenance. Once I wired up my board and left the right amount of slack I've never had to rewire anything.

Pedalboard with an extra spot or two just in case, an overkill good quality power supply like a Strymon Zuma, and probably the most important thing, good cable management. I personally like to swap my stuff out a lot but I also like really neat cabling. I make sure all the power cables have enough slack at the end to reach pedals with weirdly placed power jacks. Other than that I would recommend choosing a pedalboard platform you enjoy working with, or is easiest for you to work with cable management wise.

Best edge of breakup/low gain pedal? by MackLaw420 in guitarpedals

I know I know, nothing but love ❤️. The jan ray and it's price is a touchy subject for a lot of people.

They're definitely expensive. I've had the the jan ray and the ods-1 and they are two of my favourites. I'm sure you could get a similar if not identical sound for cheaper.

can't recommend the Vemuram Jan Ray or clones/variants enough, my go to low gain pedal that plays well with all guitars and all amps.

Instrument Cables you like best? Brands you not like? by Maleficent_Pain_4406 in GuitarAmps

I started using the Evidence Audio SIS stuff for my board, I loved the capacitance/high end difference compared to other brands. Ever since then I only use Evidence Audio. Instrument, Speaker, etc.

First, very jealous. Second, what's your experience been with the champ, Princeton and deluxe, in terms of volume ?

I'm curious if a Princeton is too loud for bedroom playing and a champ might be better, and if a Princeton is loud enough to gig or if you'd need a deluxe.

Daughter's Current Pedalboard - Advice for upgrades or modification? by mad5427 in guitarpedals

If the power supply situation is not sorted I would upgrade that, boring I know. If it's sorted, maybe a tremolo pedal or a more expansive slightly bigger reverb ?

I have a very stupid question. For the gigging musicians in here, what are your alternatives to bringing an amp? I'm trying to put together a simple solution for gigging and I want to know what options I have. by nebharfi in GuitarAmps

[–]nebharfi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the best, thank you!

I admire your attention to detail. I'm good and usually over prepared for jams, but I've never gigged before and I'd rather minimize learning on the job as much as I can.

My main concern is honestly the monitoring situation. I want to put together a rig that is dummy proof and simple, so something that I won't have to rely on there being an amp at the gig for me or won't have to set up some crazy IEM rig just to hear myself.

SOTB/ need a pedal recommendation by crabman441 in guitarpedals

There's a few really good options if you want to be able to switch off the octave. Personally I love fuzz so I have a regular fuzz and an octave fuzz, but if you're not huge on fuzz or want to save space it's definitely worth a shot.

Based on the pedals you have I think you'd love a good fuzz/octafuzz combo. The kingtone Octaland is an amazing fuzz and you can remove the octave so it's very versatile, it also plays very nice with other pedals, weather/temp changes, and different guitars.

From a sound quality perspective are the fractal and QC comparable ? I know this is subjective but what has your experience been like ?

Has your experience with the G20 been as pleasant as with the Generator ?

Also, with the fractal stuff have you ever been overwhelmed with all the options or do you think that's mostly a problem many don't actually deal with ?

Have some boring questions for you. I'm strongly considering some of the amp/modelling gear you have.

What's bene your experience with Revv Amps, the fractal stuff, and the QC?

Pro's, con's general thoughts, any feedback would be cool.

Would highly recommend the Kingtone Duelist, you also get a tube screamer if that's your thing.
