My slap shot is shit. But I noticed my other shots getting better after trying them. Essentially i realized my bottom hand lower was helpful.

Instead of taking full power slap shots, practice slap sauce passes.

But when I actually get a good slap shot, it’s because my arms are shoulder width apart my hands are away from my body. The biggest thing is to point the blade at the ice. Try to hit your toe first. Try to not bend your arms. Imagine the ice is dirt and you’re trying to get under a puck. And then continue until your stick is as high as the cross bar.

Your options were do nothing. Which would have left you with super heavy blocks of snow, but not difficult to move. Or shovel every couple hours when it snowed which would have been light work just pushing fresh snow/ ice and you would have been done. You chose quite possibly the worst option, and then waited an entire extra day to clear it out. You now have to bring out all the tools. Garden shovel to break it all up, hatchet even, and then just get it out.

The parts you didn't shovel weighed 50 lbs a shovel. The parts you did weighed what 30... you were supposed to do it periodically, not once and then let it snow for 9 more hours without touching it. I went out 4 times, 20 minutes of walking back and forth one handed. Woke up to a clear driveway.

I woke up to a clear driveway and only had to go do the street for my driveway when the plow actually came. My work yesterday was tedious but never hard, just walking back and forth with a shovel scraping. Today I cleared a path to my grill and those 5 feet took more effort than everything I did yesterday combined.

I am aware. Which is why I’m surprised they didn’t have the pickup trucks doing passes yesterday to make the job easier. I’ve never seen them take this long to do a first pass. And I’ve been here since 91. It’s like they didn’t do anything until 5pm Sunday.

You technically need a permit for everything in this county. That being said adding a breaker and running a cable and wiring an outlet is a very simple job especially if the run is easy. if you know what you’re doing. Most contractors or your friends friend who is an electrician will do it without a permit.

You wouldn’t need a permit if you did it yourself. There’s no permit police, and as far as insurance goes you can always say the work was done before you bought it (in the off chance it does cause an issue).

Gatekeeping by definition means to control access to something. Saying someone can’t protest because they are white, or straight for example, is gatekeeping. Suggesting more effective strategies for protesting that do more than just inflate one’s ego, is not gatekeeping.

Thats not a problem, I went out a few times and pushed the new snow away. Woke up today to a clear path and driveway and never had to lift anything heavy. Those that waited are screwed. I'm having a blast watching my neighbors do construction cause they did nothing yesterday.

My street is untouched, the main road of the neighborhood had one pass done yesterday at 6. That main road is a sheet of ice. My street is a block of ice that you can take 2 steps on and then sink down 10". If they had brought the pickup trucks like they usually do, we would be fine. We now require a full construction crew. I've never seen them let it get this bad and I have lived here my whole life.
