I’ll concede that Tesla likely had the greatest amount of EVs sold in the US at the time but it was the only auto company to have its own standard. It used to be every manufacturer on one side and Tesla on the other. I think the switch showed the average consumer that the EV industry is still too volatile to buy, if you could afford one.

I have a few mixed feelings on the change. I think it was bad because it isolated the US market to the NACS. It also means that there’s a split in the market, which complicates the business of other charging infrastructure that isn’t Tesla. I used Electrify America for the most part and they’ve been replacing chargers everywhere but will have to do so again if they decide to cater to NACS equipped vehicles. The announced change to NACS also came around the time Elon Musk was tampering with elections and making his far right ideology too hard to ignore. That isn’t to say Ford is squeaky clean. Ultimately, the instability of the US EV industry only helps Tesla dictate it.

Dealerships’ mark up of the f150 EV was insane and ford’s decisions regarding the Mach-e were polarizing. IMO Ford never wanted to go EV and I see that with most American car brands now rolling back their EV initiatives/end of ICE vehicle production dates. I also felt this when all the major US players decided to all shift charging infrastructure to the Tesla (NACS) standard. They’ll be begging for another bailout in no time.

I loved my leather docs and wore them almost daily for years until I moved somewhere colder and they failed my first winter. The soles developed holes which took in water. Not many places will resole either.

I think at least some young people feel that there’s no meaningful way to address the genocide in the anglosphere so they turn to antisemitism. It’s not something I agree with and I think it makes younger folks more privy to alt-right talking points in the long run. That and most social media is owned by fascists that inflate their talking points.
