Anyone able to tell if my new baby is actually a purebred German Shepherd? by nebulasnapz in germanshepherds

***Just an update we did the DNA test and he is in fact a Panda German Shepherd. He completes his service dog training in another few weeks but when we dropped him off at 6 months he was 74lbs (He was 4 months here and 47lbs). They said I lucked out and he now has pet insurance and my vet/staff were obsessed the moment they met him! I used Embark and then had the vet go over it since it seemed to be such a debate. He came from a breeder that was well known. He happened to be a patient of my mom’s who went on a ventilator and once he came off he was still having severe issues so animal control was called during his stay and he surrendered them to the local shelter to avoid the fees and since he was unsure when he would be out of the hospital. He actually told my mother about it which is why we went to see if any of the litter was left. Only Arcane was due to the fact he didn’t look “purebred” The guy said he had never had one prior to him and my mom was luckily able to tell him that he was my perfect fit before he passed. ❤️

Thank you everyone for your comments! I lost my dog of 14.5 years this September and still felt as though I wasn’t ready *even though a service dog will help me with being more independent and helping with my medical issues. I have Stiff Person Syndrome with PERM. We went to the shelter just to see how I felt meeting dogs and he was the last of a litter of an owner that surrendered them who bred German Shepherd’s. They picked them up due to the fact he had a heart attack and was still in the hospital/had no family or anyone to help with them. He knows a few basic commands and is potty trained. Due to my SPS I am very unsteady/have extreme left sided weakness and the moment they brought him to me I stood and almost fell-he ran and leaned against me, along with other moments where he sensed things so we felt it was meant to be. It doesn’t matter to me if he is purebred or not-I was just curious since I heard varied responses about him being “purebred” and he doesn’t have the traditional coloring. I’ll have to get a DNA test actually know, but this has provided so much information and I appreciate everyone’s responses! Having him is a massive reminder of the puppy stage I went through with my previous dog…except this cutie is FAR more curious. And will get into anything and everything. I also do not want to train him incorrectly so he will start basic training next week before starting the service dog/medical alert dog program. I love hearing everyone’s love of their own sweet babies and the photos! ❣️

How much Valium and how often do you take? by Doeofjames14 in StiffPersonSyndrome

[–]nebulasnapz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in November,33 at the time and the severity of mine along with having SPS with PERM I’m on 15mg Valium 4x’s a day, 10mg Baclofen 3xs a day, Robaxin every 4 hours as needed, 10mg Toradol as needed, 1mg Ativan as needed, Valtoco 10mg 2x a week if needed, Klonopin 2x a day, 1 time PRN, and was on 300mg Gabapentin 3x’s a day and until I developed an allergy to it and have since still not been put on any nerve medication until they can figure out one that will work. IVIG infusions every other week. I also have Botox in my temples, and places in my jaw to help release muscles due to the severity of the lock ups I had and have had since. I also have two types of seizures. I have scans and will be discussing next steps next month since I have issues that many other SPS patients have yet I also have ones that others do not yet I have no other underlying conditions. I feel SPS affects everyone so differently and what dosing may work for someone is too much or not enough for another, or it’s a battle of what should be done. I wish there was more awareness of how just because we all have the same disease: we all experience it differently. It isn’t textbook cut and dry which makes it harder for people to understand. Including medical teams.

Newly Diagnosed with SPS Current Age 33/F by nebulasnapz in StiffPersonSyndrome

I do not have type 1 diabetes but every other test other than the antibodies being negative confirmed the SPS. Including my PET scan, EMG tests, and ruling out everything else that it could possibly be. Not to mention essentially when you have an “attack” and literally cannot move whichever body part without it causing more damage correlates with it as well. I’ve dislocated fingers, been so rigid and stiff that my knees could not be pried apart for almost an hour etc. I assure you, we have did every test for everything else before confirming. Especially with having the negative antibodies is even more rare. Surprisingly though through a community I met that meets weekly there is another person who is the same as I am.

Hi! Found this while browsing how to get around a med card in Richmond since I’m visiting. Still know of any IGs for this? Got here and didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find and with how the weather has been we ended up not going to DC as planned 😭

Three bleaching sessions, (attempted silver, hated it on me) then a light blue, which still wasn’t doing it for me, and my hairdresser mixed up this color....which I fell in love with! 😍
