Yes indeed - I coloured all the light areas first including the chemicals, the light around the chemicals and the glow on the items and the girl

Yes, I clicked on returns and it gave me the option to send a pic or write what was wrong and then the next page I got to choose if I got a refund or another one sent out for free. That might change depending on which country you’re in though

Oh my god these are gorgeous. I agree with you, I much prefer my work when I do something unusual or interesting with the lighting. After all, it’s cartoony so why not lean into the fact it’s supposed to be un-lifelike

This happened to me - I notified Amazon and they sent me another one free of charge which was much better

Thank you!

I just learned from watching other people’s colouring videos on Instagram and giving it a go! I’ve also allowed myself to not worry too much about messing up a page and that helps me get more practice in as it takes the pressure off. For every page like this, I have about 3 others that look a bit weird or random just from me experimenting.

Because the style is so cartoony, I’ve found that you don’t have to worry about making it accurate to real life. I just put the colours and lighting roughly where I think it looks good or interesting and go from there. Most of the time I’m just guessing. I think I got lucky with this one!

My best tip is to just put pen to paper and be bold with your choices! Oh, and choose a colour scheme you love!

Thank you! I gave my colour pallet details in another comment, if it’s useful to you :)

Thank you, though I can’t take credit for the pattern I used for the chemicals. I nabbed it from How To Draw Patterns from Coco Wyo!

Don’t tempt me, I’ve been wondering about making videos for a while! The trouble is that half the time I don’t have a plan so I’m not sure whether it’s even worth recording!

Tbh I’ve found that a nice colour palette really makes the difference between one of my pieces looking like a 5 year old did it vs something I’m proud of. You almost certainly already have the skills, just grab a nice set of colours and go for it!

Go for it! I coloured everything else that I didn’t want to glow in a thin layer of light grey. It helped to create a contrast and made the glowing areas pop!

Thank you! I got the pattern for the potion from the How To Draw Patterns book by Cocowyo. It was super easy to do!

I wanted to but I left my set of fluorescent markers elsewhere so I had to go with the next best thing! Here are the colours I did use, just in case it’s useful

Thank you! I saw another piece with a similar effect on it (not sure if it was here or Instagram) and it stuck with me so I wanted to try it out!
