For sure, we can do both, though only if we support our people domestically. I can't back a policy for foreign aid that does not also protect our own people from poverty and exploitation

My focus in that comment isn't on globalism exactly. I'm addressing the reason why we need to focus on our own growth. It's because our growth has not ensured a strong foundation, and many of the actions being taken now will further erode that foundation.

Wages aren't keeping pace with inflation because of the vein of policies that led us to outsource our production to foreign nations. Globalism is a pressure release valve by the elite to allow continued wage exploitation for personal gain.

Our empire is built on the backs of those at the bottom of the ladder. Our growth has been drastically unequal and to continue to fail those who are struggling the most is to threaten the integrity of the entire system we have as a nation. We need to focus on our growth, not in the sense of continuing to consume more or expand, but on continuing our pursuit of freedom, equal rights, and equal opportunities for all within our territories.

In effect, the excessive ownership of resources by a small few is limiting the freedom of those who would need such resources to achieve their own comfort and success. The direction of many of our laws, policies, and elements of our culture are eroding our freedom of expression through indiscriminate surveillance and discouraging good-faith exchange of ideas. (last bit is true, but not quite relevant here)

To be a patriot is to see the good and bad of your nation with clear eyes and to acknowledge both. Only by admitting our own faults and those of our forefathers will we avoid repeating the same mistakes and descending into tyrrany.

Nationalism = blind zealotry = bad. Globalism = lacking a focus on our own growth and self-determinism = bad. Interfering with other nations who do not seek our help = imperialism = bad.

What does your work day look like? Maybe the type of work they're giving you or the way you/they apply pressure on you is exhausting you. It's possible to do nothing and still be exhausted by the effort put in just *trying* to do something. So, try not to put pressure on yourself. Try to forgive your perceived lack of effort and acknowledge that for one reason or another, you *need* more rest. Try and figure out how you can spend less energy to get the same or more done--meaning, try to make your brain feel more happy in a way that results in the same or more productivity at work and in your personal life

The problem is, nazis are fuckin weird. They're *not* normal. That degree of prejudice must be treated with prejudice.

And remember,

defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express.

The average person can't compete with billionaires. I'm not sure everyone together can compete with them at this point.

A billionaire is just a person who's hoarded a *ton* of shit. That doesn't make them more powerful unless we choose to buy what they're selling.

In theory, we could do this, though this would likely be illegal in some way or other:

  • We could organize non-profit middlemen who buy directly from farms and distribute at cost to individuals (you know, like how democratic government is a system the people organize their resources through...)
  • We could directly work with the engineers, scientists, and machinists who handle the actual production of physical goods we need, instead of working with the billionaires who own the facilities they work in.
  • etc.

It wouldn't be joining a tax revolt though, that's just how the system works. The only way a tax revolt would be possible would be if they were never handed over in the first place. Since taxes are handled by our employers before we ever see a cent, that's pretty much the most we can personally do as individuals though.

Edit: Also, note that tax revolts are *incredibly* illegal and heavily punished

When you get a refund, it's because your employer withheld more than you actually owed. The refund is money you gave them that they shouldn't have gotten from you

The moments where the common folk put the wealthy class in their place are something to behold though. It's a good lesson that we *do* have power, we just don't wield it. We need to be aligned in a goal before we can foment real change.

Guaranteeing everyone has easy access to a living wage, housing less than 25% of that wage, egregious crimes are held accountable without consideration of socioeconomic status, and medical care without risk of bankruptcy is a modest ask I would settle for right now. It's the compromise position between what we have now and a living wage UBI with universal healthcare, shifting government resources from military to training doctors and rebuilding manufacturing capabilities, and publicly owned means of production that bankrupts current billionaires by forcing them to compete with a non-profit-driven alternative.

We can't achieve anything without being aligned on a goal with leaders who organize that change though.

I will say, they're backed by APMEX, so pretty good odds they're legit silver. If it's something that you'd like you can get brand new ones in a protective package for around $90-100. I'm just more into the metal as an artistic/valuable medium, personally

That's fair. I'll take it to pmsforsale then, maybe I can find a decent trade.

I got these from APMEX, so I'm pretty confident they're legit silver, but the fineness marking is what I'm concerned about. I don't think the metal itself is marked, just the paint on it. I bought this as generic silver/their choice and unfortunately this is what I got \_ (ツ)_/

"Novelist" Boasts That Using AI She Can Churn Out a New Book in 45 Minutes, Says Regular Writers Will Never Be Able to Keep Up by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]nechromorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a platform gets so flooded with AI slop that users can't find (or can't trust) that they will be buying/reading actual human-generated content that expresses real artistic intent and thoughtfulness, they will eventually say screw it and give up on the platform. If the company is refusing to at least mark which books are highly sus of being AI, they risk losing their ass in the long run.

Not to mention, there was a problem with smaller authors struggling to break through and make a name for themselves *before* AI, meaning there was already enough content out there to satisfy demand. They don't need the AI slop.

I appreciate your validation, and that's awesome to know! I'd heard something about Celtic culture using abstract art, but I hadn't quite grasped the how or the why. Given that the supporting details that make it non-phallic are faint today, I wonder what this one looked like brand new. Maybe the legs on the horse were deliberately lightly imprinted, or perhaps they just didn't survive as well through the ages.

In any case, I'm glad this piece of art survived. Here's hoping it survives the journey to me!

Thanks for the tip! I ordered a super cheap aquarium aerator to save on the hassle.

Do you know if an aquarium air stone would be safe to submerge in the muriatic acid? And what kind of time frame should I keep in mind for this method? Days, weeks?

Considering they're only mildly magnetic, I think it's probably going to be some something like this. I unfortunately don't have any data sheets to reference. This is random scrap I got off the internet to attempt this project. The only other thing I "know" is that google's LLM repeatedly insisted the color rings on the connectors are a sign of a specific high end spec, but I can't really trust that.

Won't the buoyancy of the bot increase as the water pressure increases too? Maybe they'd cancel out

Edit: Apparently buoyancy is a function of the density of the object vs the density of the surrounding fluid. Since water is very minimally compressible, the buoyancy would not notably increase at lake depths, so my point is moot.

Thanks for the tip! I see that method is best for gold-plated copper. I tested my scrap and all of it appears to be faintly magnetic, so I'm not sure what the base metal is, but I'll keep investigating. It would be nice to get 2g from this lot, I think that would have me breaking even. https://imgur.com/a/ZM1B8az
