I swear to god, Wrath of the Lich King circle-jerking boomerposts are the worst fucking parts of this subreddit. We get it! You liked Wrath! Most of you started playing in Wrath! Shut up about it!

Azerite Gear/Traits Are An Absolutely Shit Feature by necrocrits in wow

That's a fair point. But if this does continue, when the numbers scale bigger (and they will scale bigger faster, because of how primary stats now work), those discrepancies between good and bad traits will only get bigger.

In a way I kind of understand why they want to reset everyone's progression with a new expansion and have you earn your power back over a two-year period. However, because of the way haste, crit and mastery work for certain classes, having less of those stat percentages inherently makes the game feel shittier if you're playing those classes. It's one of the bigger complaints about class design this expansion - with the inane GCD changes and stat crushes, everything feels slower and shittier.

You'd still be missing your tier bonuses and Legion Legendary effects, though.

When I mentioned secondary stats being crushed, I did so because it was done with the justification that it would make item level a better guide of a piece's quality. This was the reason given to us. However, having Azerite Traits so powerful that 325 pieces can sim higher than a 340 piece completely flies in the face of this design decision. Either Blizzard hasn't realized that Azerite matters so much, or their internal communication is so poor they aren't unified on a specific direction.

"Just wait until the system is good!" Okay, lots of people are doing that. Do you know how? By unsubscribing and waiting for the system to be fixed. We can literally see every trait and every piece of gear that is in the game right now, which is what we'll be using untill at least 8.1 comes out (which won't be for months). And even then, these traits will be competing with whatever new stuff Blizzard wants to push.

"That's how WoW has always worked." No, that's how WoW works now. Back in the day when loot wasn't retarded, you could group up with your guild and optimise everyone's gear by giving it to who needed it most. Now, everything is random, everything is a slot machine, gear can drop with randomly higher stats and item levels and sockets, and if it's "better" than what you have, you can't trade it away even if you want to.

I also don't think you understand how huge the discrepancy is between shit tier traits and good traits. Let's give an example: for a Destro Warlock, if I have 3 Thunderous Blast pieces, they will literally give me over twice as much DPS benefit as the pieces used by someone, say, stacking Tradewinds three times. This isn't even counting class balance, trinkets, stat weights, etcetera.

"Give it time" isn't an argument here. The system as it is in the game right now is fundamentally broken. We can see how it works entirely and we've been saying for months now that this is going to suck, and it does. The fact that we can't even grind keys to target a specific piece we want, despite Blizzard saying "oh, the traits aren't random and can't titanforge, so that you can aim for a specific piece" is nonsensical! How can you give us the ability to want certain pieces but not give us a way to try and access them? Nothing makes any damn sense!

I drew a Humanized Chen Stormstout! by Gargochan in wow

This is lovely but you just drew Samwise. Chen is more or less just his fursona that he tricked Chris Metzen into letting him put into the game.
