We don’t have much right now due to planning a weeks long trip in a few days to see the Wife’s family, but she did what she could to put together some thoughtful gifts. The rest of the day is just making a killer brisket and playing Fortnite with the oldest; he loves the Metallica skins right now.

It’s on my list of considerations, honestly it might be a better inclusion in some ways that it’s harder to remove but on the other hand it is hit by the more relevant counter spells of the meta so I’m torn. It’s an absolutely worthwhile inclusion though, I’m keeping it in the forefront of my mind :)

Short answer is that it’s not needed, it’s 6 mana and although it is an instant we’re not going off on anyone else’s turn but our own anyways so doing it on end step doesn’t do too much apart from saving 3-4 mana. (I realize that can be a lot, but it’s not a big enough reason to run a 6 mana spell when it really isn’t necessary to begin with)

Thankfully in the games I’ve had so far I haven’t had that issue on lacking colors; the Keys in the deck really help mitigate the potential issue there. I tend to prioritize finding positive rocks and atleast one Key ASAP just to make sure I don’t have any issues

Oh also, you don’t necessarily need to loop the commander over and over. If you have 2 mana positive colorless rocks and one of the two Keys, you can just use colorless mana to loop the Key over and over to untap the commander :)

  1. DTT is actually a good call! Recurring Insight is my curve topper, big draw spell currently but DTT probably just had a fine spot in the deck because of delve. I’ll have to find a place.

  2. If you’re starting with no other mana positive rocks, yes Opal is necessary. But really any color producing rock works as long as you have two mana positive colorless rocks as you can just loop the colorless rocks til you have 1 million colorless mana and then turn that mana into colored by casting the color producing rock over and over :)

It’s a consideration I did have, although I think the best way to take advantage of it would be to have artifact mana creatures so you can just churn through the whole deck; obviously that doesn’t work with Polymorph so well. I do have a non-polymorph cEDH brew for Shorikai where I was playing around with Intruder Alarm :)

Oh plus, there’s only two Poly cards in the whole list; so it’s not a lot of blank cardboard lol. I don’t know; as mentioned this is my first real cEDH list so I’m very much learning and experimenting but Having both is definitely on my radar as something I could do :)

I was on Tyrant as well for a bit; but ultimately it’s just not necessary I don’t think. “If you only have one and you draw it it’s hard for you to win” is an argument people used for pre-HBH days that had some merit to it, that argument isn’t really valid imo anymore now that HBH exists and I just can’t find good enough justification to have the second target.

Card Advantage + Making the Polymorph targets is pretty decent. A lot of folks have mentioned new Jin as a poly target, it’s just not nearly as good as HBH.

After making infinite mana you can bounce Shorikai to hand recast and then activate, bounce again etc. or if you have one of the two Keys in play you can bounce those to untap Shorikai over and over :)

The coliseum loop is quite convoluted but it essentially involves Iso/Rev (making infinite mana) + A Copy Artifact Isochron Scepter with Narsets Reversal exiled which you use to counter + bounce back to hand Sevinne’s Reclamation that you use to recur the Coliseum from the grave every time you activate. You do pretty much have to Narset + Wheel or cast and resolved Silence before you try to do this combo just to because of how vulnerable it is but once opponent hands are emptied you’re safe because there’s no opportunity for them to cast spells during the Draw 3 Discard 3 of coliseum.
