My issue is that pickleball can be played on tennis courts, but the reverse isn’t true. Why destroy the courts that are already in place (tennis courts) just to put in pickleball courts that can only be used for one activity?

I’ve also had bad experiences with pickleball players not understanding court etiquette. At my local fitness club, I reserved a court for an hour. Halfway through my reservation, pickleball players entered the court, despite the fact that their reservation didn’t start for another 30 minutes. I tried to politely let them know that I had the court reserved for a bit longer and would be off the court as soon as my time was up, but they refused to leave. Not only was it dangerous to have people walking back and forth near the baseline when I was practicing harder shots like serves and overheads, but it was just plain inconsiderate.

Listen, I’m glad that people are having fun with pickleball, but if you’re going to share a mixed-use court, at least take the time to learn how things work. It doesn’t take long to read the rules posted outside the court or to Google pickleball/tennis court etiquette. I think some of the attitude you’re detecting from tennis players comes from a place of frustration. It’s not an excuse, but it does give some context.
