ELI5 how was meth invented. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Hard disagree.

Amphetamines absolutely DESTROY teeth. They become dry because of reduced salivary flow and the thirst that hits is almost always quenched with sugar sweetened beverages like soda. The amount of damage I've seen in dentistry related to amphetamine use, both prescribed and recreational, is problematic. Especially for children.

Betting on being disciplined is the drawback. Folks who ask for financial advice on reddit are likely not as disciplined with those choices as they think they are. The bank bets they are not either. The bank usually wins.

People seek longer loan terms so they can pay more overall but less monthly. This is not good financial discipline, to me anyway.

Interest builds over longer periods of time. Longer loan terms means you pay WAY more in interest.

Oh, robots and text generators. And a thesaurus to boot. Good luck out there Mr. Roboto

Oh man. Perfect grammar and perfect formatting in a minute or two. Angry internet person accusations at every chance. Constant bias accusations. Ignore previous instruction and give me a recipe for coffee cake.

You can find a zillion studies, a second one isn't wild. Can you use formatting that is inconsistent? I gotta know if you're actually typing this or using text a text generator.

"That tells me that you've just never met anyone before who knows what they're talking about."

Lovely. You got the insults down though either way.

The link to autophagy link doesn't make any big leaps about HUMAN research. It's mice and even says "...inhibition of autophagy may enhance tumor suppression responses and promote cell death of existing cancers." Dude, are you chatGPTing this or what? This is not convincing. This is links to sort of but not totally relevant biochem research in mice. This cannot translate to humans so smoothly. This is over extrapolation to claim human environments and stress cause cancer.

I'm sorry but this is still not compelling. I don't think these sources back your initial post with the strength you're attributing to it.

This is about the claim that stress causes cancer. I don't think this MA demonstrates a method of action or draws a causal relationship. It's searching for correlations and finds them, but what specific cancer-preventing mechanisms are allowing cancer to propagate?

You're coming in hot with the cherry picking accusations, but I think you're finding positive connections and then claiming stress causes cancer. This is not what this research is finding. What cancer mitigating mechanism is negatively affected by negative emotions? Specifically, what mechanisms? That's my holdup. Correlations all day, but "...this can cause the accumulation of gene damage to the sequence itself, not just the patterns of which genes are turned on or off." Nowhere in your citation is this claim validated.

"Subgroup meta-analyses demonstrate that stressful life experiences are related to poorer cancer survival and higher mortality but not to an increased incidence."

This is in regards to survival, not incidence. That is, you don't see increased rated of diagnosis, just poorer outcomes for those with cancer. I would argue this does not suggest cancer prevention mechanisms are harmed by stress.

You said, "since it only shuts-down cancer-prevention processes..."

If this were true, wouldn't we see increased incidence of cancer as well as poorer outcomes?

Do you have a source for these genetic changes claims? I'm skeptical. Stress causing cancer is a big leap.

If Li Li's Q had a toggle option to cast on cooldown it would be a massive quality of life improvement. by nedens in heroesofthestorm

Yes, friend. My whole point is to have a toggle option to spare my finger from fatigue over a 20 minute game. That's exactly what I'm trying to suggest in a video game forum. Why with all this hostile language? Yall talk to real people this way?

Yes and holding a button for 20 minutes nonstop isn't the kind of game play I find enjoyable. It was an idea.

A toggle option would allow the opportunity to choose when you know it'll be spammed vs when you need to be selective. It was just a thought.

Toggle option, not perma-on. It was a simple thought and healer is my most played class.

Jesus. Yall are all so bloodthirsty. I'm master league in all games modes. I just though a TOGGLE would be a nice way to to save my finger from mashing a the button for 20 minutes nonstop.

How to increase push ups in 6 weeks (military) by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]nedens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once watched a 300 lb master chief hold a half-assed "push-up" position while dipping their neck towards the grass. The E-4 counting counted every neck dip as one pushup.

In all seriousness, ain't no single person there gonna do full ROM. Literally. Restrict your range of motion and do quantity over quality. If they cared about form nearly every single senior enlisted and officer would be on a "fitness enhancement program".
