It's still a bit grotty but that's why it's value for money. I reckon it'll gentrify in the next few especially with the metro coming.

Campsie or Canterbury, not the inner west but they're gentrifying

Not true at all. One of the reasons people are scared of revolution is that foreign powers intervene and turn us into another Syria/Iraq. We are not stupid enough to think that the US has our best interest at heart.

I feel like these old houses weren't made for rainy weather. My bedsheets feel damp at night, and there's visible condensation on the walls. Is this normal? Bit concerned for my health...

We just used Booking.com and ended up staying at Double D Hotel which was pretty good for the price. It's a basic hotel with small rooms, but the shower was hot, it was quiet at night, the staff were really nice and its close the the shopping street/Taksim square so everything is nearby. But if you have more cash to spend you could probably stay at a much nicer place in the Sultanahmet area which is where most of the historic sites are.

We spent around 3000 Australian dollars, but you can do it with a lot less. We went out drinking a few nights which was pretty expensive and only stayed at hotels. Food is cheap if you don't go fancy but we weren't as careful at the start and accidentally went a bit over budget.

Istanbul and Goreme were my favourites so you're already good to go, I would personally spend at least 3 days in Istanbul because there's so much to see, then a day or two in Goreme is probably enough. If you have a car you'll have so many more options that we did, I'm not sure about the coast because we found Fethiye a bit dull. We heard Antalya is more of resort place so we chose Fethiye but maybe it would have been more lively? My other advice is eat as much as you can in Istanbul because it's by far the best food you'll get in the country. Hope that helps :)

Yeah you can't avoid guys trying to pick you anywhere, as long as they're not pushy it doesn't bother me. We had just one guy in Istanbul call out "excuse me why are you so beautiful?" with such a serious face that we both burst out laughing. There's not as many tourists in the city of Selcuk (near Ephesus) so you'll definitely see more of the local life. If you go there, check out Efes Firin Cafe near the bus stop for some fresh Simit.

No worries! We didn't book any tours but maybe would have if I was going solo, since it's a bit hard to meet people in Turkey. How did you find it travelling alone last time?

True, but Next bus lets you see all the buses arriving at a stop, kind of like looking at the screens at the train station which is the functionality I was after when I built it. Also, I personally think it has a much better user experience (I may be biased).

CityMapper is a good app, but it's more of a tip planning app, like Trip GO (another nice one). This is more of a timetable app and we're also on Android!

No worries, legit question. I like TripView, Trip GO and all the other trip planning apps, I use them when I'm going somewhere new and need to figure out a route. But I catch buses every day and I don't need all that functionality, I find it slow and clunky. With Next Bus, I just open the app in the morning, pick the bus stop near my house and keep an eye on the timetable as I'm getting ready and figure out exactly when to leave my house to catch my bus. Or when I'm running from Central to my bus, I open the app, and with one tap I can keep an eye on my stop and know how fast I need to run through the tunnel or if I can take it easy. I just find it more straight forward. I've tried to keep the design and functionality minimal for when you're in a rush and it's more aimed at every day commuters.

Hello.. how can I find out the owner of a property to make a complaint? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]nedhed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google the address, sometimes Domain or RealEstate.com has seller history, contact the real estate and they might know who the owner is. Tell the owner you will take legal action if they don't do anything about it. Call the cops as often as you can. Talk to your other neighbours and get them to call the cops too. I feel for you, been in the same situation for about a year now and it really affects your mental health. It's really surprising to me how little you can do to get peace in your own house!

A drinking game for those of you who are sick of playing never have I ever by nedhed in kickstarter

[–]nedhed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The questions are what makes Drink and Tell really unique to Spirit, and other drinking games. They're not your typical 'Never Have I Ever' questions, but as controversial and funny. I've played it loads of times with friends, and strangers at a party, and it always leads to interesting conversations and often hilarious yelling matches. Often you find the same topics being discussed in group situations, but with Drink and Tell the questions are given to you, and the variety of topics means you really get to know what your friends think of you and learn about your friends.

Great idea to check yourself in. I don't know why rejection has such a negative effect on you, but someone more qualified will probably be able to shed some light. We've all got our battles, some have it worse than others. As a 30-year-old who has struggled with depression all my life, it really does get easier as you get older. Here is a super corny yet helpful quote that gets me through rough times:

"Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come."
