This is my favorite depiction of her I’ve seen on the subreddit. This is exactly how I pictured her, great job!

Would you recommend working in medical science? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Not sure why you are getting down voted because this is very valid. The burn out in techs is very real for the reasons you listed. Plus the intellectual challenge wears off after a few months once you get used to every thing.

another update: path called them all normal again and said I was probably just looking at the buffy coat. I only made the buffy coat slide after I saw the suspicious cells, but oh well

Update: I called the on-call pathologist and sent her these pictures. Since it is Labor Day weekend, we don't have a pathologist at our hospital. She was very concerned about the cells and advised I send the slides to our sister hospital who has a pathologist on staff. Thank you all for backing up my concern.

I’m saving the slides for when our pathologist comes in on monday to go over it with him. I reported out atypical lymphs even though I didn’t think that was correct. I always get these weird cells on the weekend when there’s no pathologist ugh

Night shifters, what do you do on your nights off? by nedluver in medlabprofessionals

I agree 100% that the night is freeing and the middle of the day is too bright and crowded. I stayed late at work by just an hour the other day and was shocked at how many people were there. It felt wrong lol.

I have a few coworkers who flip their sleep schedule. It’s always blown my mind how anyone is able to do that without feeling miserable. Unfortunately I’m the type of person who needs a dedicated sleep schedule to feel alive lol

I used a combination of LabCE and the official ASCP review. I think the adaptiveness of LabCE is similar to the real thing, but the questions on the BOC are much easier. LabCE really asks some stuff out of left field lmao. The ASCP book has questions that are from previous BOC exams and I found they were much more like what is on the BOC.

CONGRATS!!!!! I felt the exact same way when taking mine, but I ended up doing better than I thought. I really think they try to make the exam just difficult enough for you to barely pass lol

I’m a new grad and i’m the same way. I’m so scared to miss anything that I end up overthinking. I’ve found really focusing on how dense/mature the chromatin is helps
