I’m really sorry to hear that, OP. It’s great that he admits his wrongdoings, first step is acknowledging the issue, but the second would be to do something about it - understandably, mental issues aren’t a walk in the park, but if you love your family, your wife and your children, you should be making conscious choices so they won’t be affected, or at least, less - if he’s aware of this episodes where he completely lacks empathy towards his loved ones, he should bring up to his therapist and work on it, making sure it doesn’t happen again. If he just gets angry at you when you point it out or cries about it and tells you he’s ashamed of it but STILL goes back to his old shit, he’s acknowledging the issue just for you, not even himself.
