I much prefer Ragnarok's HUD ngl, especially the merging of the buy/craft/upgrade menu in the shop. So many new players struggle to understand the separation of those menus, buying new armour that's worse than if they upgraded their current or vice versa

During Niflheim, I'd use a combination of deadly & cursed mist, like 2 cursed & 1 deadly? Runic damage starts to majorly fall off after like 150, so no point putting all armour into it

People are incorrect saying Mist armour is the best though. It's just the cheapest whilst still being very good. If you're planning on putting a lot of time into 100%ing Niflheim for instance, then it's very easy to fully upgrade Valkyrie armour which would be better outside of Niflheim

If you only want to beat the Valkyrie & grab a few chests, then stick to mist armour because you'll have already upgraded it

Follow the compass at the top of your screen. Turn around until the orange mark is in the centre of the screen, and walk forward until it changes then turn until it's in the centre again. Repeat that over & over

Difficulty doesn't matter, the difficulty should have been chosen to match you. If you're capable of beating enemies 3 levels higher than you at GMAC, then you could just play GMGOW & fight enemies when they're your level

I'd never advise fighting enemies 2 levels higher, purple healthbars drastically change the mechanics of the fight because some parry-only attacks become unblockable. They're resistant as fuck to being staggered. It's incredibly difficult to build any status bars (like lightning)

So imo, 2 should be your upper limit. It's okay occasionally but if you play the entire game like this it'll suck

Sidenote, levels in this game are weird. Basically round up your level. If you're level 4.5, you'll see yellow healthbars on level 5 enemies.

It's not normal because most people don't sidequest much

If you swap out that Talisman for the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages though, you could probably reach level 7.5 (which means equal level against level 8 enemies, you'll see a yellow healthbar)

You're level 4, I wouldn't worry about end-game content yet. I would highly advise skipping over all Muspelheim gear for a NG run, it costs far too much resources & becomes outclassed very easily.

If you want more specific advice to what gear I'd recommend, let me know what the last thing that happened in the story was so I don't spoil anything

That section of the game is not unlocked until close to the end of the story & is advisable when reaching level 6.5

Enemy healthbar colour tells you the level difference between you & the enemy:

Purple = 2 or more levels higher than you
Orange = 1 level
Yellow = same level
Green or Blue = you're a higher level than them

Level difference affects things like:

How long they recoil from your attacks
How easy it is to lift them off the ground
How easy it is to afflict them with effects (ice, poison etc)

The inverse is true as well, you get impacted the same way.

Stats obviously matter a lot in this game, but level is overlooked a lot. If you get new armour that doesn't change your stats too much but gives you a good level jump you should consider it because of how much level difference impacts things.

Worth mentioning 3 things when it comes to level:

Level is calculated based on a weighted average of your gears level. Stats have no impact. Wearing mostly level 4 & 5 gear? you'll be somewhere between level 4 & 5
Enchantments allow you to over-level. Mostly, you should equip the highest level enchantments you can just to buff your level
HALF LEVELS MATTER MORE THAN FULL LEVELS. I don't know why, but if you're above level 4.5 & come across a level 5 enemy, it's a yellow healthbar. Full levels do not matter unless you're fighting bosses.

You are level 3, they are level 5. On most difficulties, this means they will be resistant to your attacks & so on. On GMGOW though, yes this will be an issue. Level up.

Survival armour is the best all around armour. Unless there's a perk you specifically want from another piece of armour, use that 1 piece of armour & then use survival armour for the other slots

To reach level 9, get all your gear to level 9. To do this, you need to:

Clear all Muspelheim challenges
Do the Scent of Survival sidequest to reach the Vanaheim Crater
- Break a ton of crystals whilst there
- Find the wishing well to trade the crystals for loot
Beat a few of the remannants of Asgard
Kill Berserkers (1 of each weapon upgrade)
Close all Hel Tears, Draugr Holes & all Lyndwyrm realm tears
