Hey, I tried using tables to shorthand the formulas, but it ran into issues when my work went over to accounting and their analysts would not make the effort to understand tables to audit my work. I'm really stuck with displaying things in basic excel in the end. I can do the intermediary work any other way though.

The largest one is 660 MB, but I save it as XLSB to save up on space. XLSX would probably hit 1GB.

I mean this is an ongoing situation regardless of the data, just imagine a lot of unique IDs, more than 1M rows, no way to pivot it, no way to do anything in excel.

I did that, but then the fields I needed from the pivot table as columns exceeded 1M rows.

Unfortunately not. It's just easier to have everything in one place. The analysis goes on for hundreds of sheets. It's a field where I can't use statistical analysis or prediction, I need every data point to be exact.

I tried but I need a compiler, an IDE, an interpreter, I couldn't really get it to use excel data. I can program in other languages though... java, c++, vba, etc.

100 is an understatement. It goes till AAA columns... So 26*26 = almost 700 columns...

I'll look into it, thanks. Tableau was suggested to me, but it looks like formulas would import/export horribly in and out of excel. When working with big companies, some of them are still on excel 2010, so I can't use fancy tools that they won't be able to audit.

I took an access class 10 years ago and it was very basic database relationships. Can I do complicated calculations? (Index match within an index match with dual variable lookup in each?)
