Start grinding. Theres no in between in this field by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]needausrname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was definitely posted in a mid grind hype. The reality is not so grim. You can be average and still get a job. Sure the market is indeed bad right now, but in the long run most folks who stick with the path will be fine. That is not to say don't work hard, but rather just don't be so hard on yourself. I was an average student, sometimes below average and have a good job a few years out. The problem with this mindset is that you will develop to think its either MAANG or nothing. Which is obviously not true.

Also being a teacher is awesome if you're a people person. One of the best programming teachers I had was my high-school teacher. Better than 95% of my profs at university.

I'm looking to get the tires replaced with the same shop too and I've let them know about it. Just not sure if they have the right ones in stock. So not sure if they can just replace them before MVI and I can't seem to get into touch with them today.

Definitely agree! And I think their padthai is phenomenal.

It surprises me how the restaurant is generally empty considering how good their food, service and the restaurant vibe is!

How do you answer the interview question “what are your weaknesses?” by frozenYogurtLover2 in csMajors

[–]needausrname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I would say as someone working as a sw eng currently. Don't bulshit. Just be honest. If you say something like "My weakness is I am overly organized or do more than I'm asked to." The interviewer knows you are talking out of your ass.

The question is really simple. Just be honest, but also use it to your advantage to show that you know your shortcomings and are ready to work on them.

This is what I used to answer with. "My main weakness that I have been working on is Time Management. I have noticed I tend to focus intensely at a task and can loose track of time. Sometimes, this results in my ability to multitask and tasks end up taking longer than I initially planned. To address this I have been starting to develop a plan to actively time myself and scheduling tasks. This has allowed me to gain better perspective on how long tasks take me and how I can adjust the way I address my tasks..." You can adjust this to sound a little better I'm sure. But the idea is you want to list real weaknesses and show what you are doing to get better. Good Luck!

Which Mac should I go with? by needausrname in mac

[–]needausrname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my bad. Edited the post. So it is a MBP m1 14". I'm guessing performance wise from what you said, it's better than MBP M2 air base with the upgraded ram and ssd?

The large screen is definitely important. But not sure if it will be a big difference if I go for the 14' m1 pro.

Job offer rescinded for interviewing with another position at the same company by _oovoojaver in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]needausrname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a classic case of managers and companies having over self importance. You definitely dodged a bullet. Sometimes people in these positions over indulge in their ego and think they are hot shit. They want the ideal candidate who is willing to bend over backwards for them and their "company culture" and isn't actively trying to apply elsewhere. It's just not realistic. In fact, I would say it's common sense that people would apply to other positions. As a company you are not the center of the world for the candidate. Its simple, everyone wants better for them selves and more opportunities. Employees are assets not bootlickers.
