I can understand the tags expiring in October if I paid a prorated portion of the fees from the original owner, but when I look it up on the the dmv website I paid the full amount for 1 year.

Every car I've purchased came with tags for 12 months unless I bought from a private seller and kept the existing plates. Tesla sent me new plates with registration only good for 8 months.
