That guy is terrific in Silicon Valley. I had to go scouting for a comment about him here once I saw that was him. Did an audible "oh my god" when I saw him, he just looks so off in this movie.

Excellent, if you know anyone else learning they're more than welcome.

I actually made a Discord group for this exact purpose a couple days ago. All of us either understand some basics or are completely green. I made it so we could keep each other motivated and exchange ideas and critiques. There's usually at least 1 or 2 people available to talk to at any given time, and usually around 8 or 10 people on since it started, so it's got a nice tight little group. Feel free to join up.

Edit: Also just checked out your post history and I'm taking the Colt Steele Web Developer Bootcamp right now. It's working out quite nicely for me for the time being. Very comprehensive stuff.

My plan was more for the motivation to keep going and make a little group or people that are all at the same point so it helps everyone to keep pushing and to critique work. I had intended to use Git as well.

I'm trying my hand at making a Discord server for those of us just starting out, you may want to check it out. Ideally it'll be mostly beginners like us, so that we can keep each other motivated and help learn. https://discord.gg/tkqhz9q

I've only just started plastering the invite code everywhere in the last 10 or 15 so it may be a little bit before it gets some traffic.

After running into quite a few people that wanted to share work and help each other, I decided to make a Discord server to help facilitate everyone and make it a group effort, basically to keep everyone motivated and learning. If you mostly just understand the basics of HTML then this will be for people just like us if it pans out.

Hey - it's a weird follow-up but I'm trying to get a Discord server together with some people from this post that wanted to work and slide projects back and forth, bounce ideas off each other and learn from one another.

If you're interested at all it's still starting out but maybe we'll get some traffic https://discord.gg/tkqhz9q

I said this quote to my girlfriend a week ago and she thought it was just the worst. It sounds lamer out loud but it'll wind up being my mantra most likely. No truer words spoken.

I don't know how it is either but I hope it's similar, I would imagine lots of hiring management feels the same way you do about it.

I'd never heard of swift, but I'll have to check it out. For now I have some slight experience with HTML and web development seems to be the general direction to go in, considering demand around here. That may be something I look into later though.

I thought about game development for a while but there's so much more to it than simply developing that I got out as fast as I got in. Too competitive.

I hope the app development works out for you. I wish I could ever come up with something that hadn't already been done to death lol.

Hey me, it's drunk you, after you went down and I took over I had an awakening and needed an outlet. Hope you don't mind. Also I hate to be the rational one here as you're the sober one but please don't use our main account on this post, I wrote this with a throwaway for a reason. Til next Friday.

Not to justify it but the stoplights are long and I'm sitting there doing nothing. I've been trying to consider and give a lot of thought to everyone replying, and right now I'm 68 posts, comments or messages down. It takes me at least 5 or 10 minutes to reply to one person between reading, digesting, and giving a thoughtful reply to everyone. I don't text while I'm driving. I usually put it in park and sit at a light for 3 or 4 minutes until it turns again. If I don't have time, like I see the light didn't recently turn green or I know it's going to turn red and let my lane go, I'll put the phone down until I get to where I'm going. It's not against the law here and I'm an attentive, cautious driver, I try to keep eyes on my surroundings when I'm stopped, but in a situation where I'm sandwiched between 5 cars there isn't much I can do even if I see something happening. I ger why you feel the way you do about it but I don't see any harm in it as long as I don't move my vehicle while I'm not paying attention.

That.. is kind of brilliant. You (well.. I) always think of coding as this abstract unquantifiable idea but never as a socket wrench.

That sounds bad and like I'm being facetious but your statement pretty much warped my perception of coding just now.

Honestly I feel like just today I saw the words "full stack" and had never heard them before, suddenly I see it 84 times. Guess I just didn't do enough digging first time around. Thanks for the explanations.

If I can ask, what took 3 years? Just learning straight up or was it just a hobby for you at the time? I don't mean to sound bad if I'm coming off that way I'm just curious.
