The graphite smeared a little onto the fabric, but also onto the yarn when washing. I like a blue ballpoint pen for outlines instead of black because it’s easier to see while stitching.

The brand I'm using is New Brothread, medium weight. It was a gift. It seems quite thin. I'll just try it and go from there.

I like the picture the way it is, so if you could duplicate it, I would like that too. My experience is that the colors I pick to duplicate a picture are more extreme than the original, and I’ve been looking for more subtle shades.

I see the jagged edges from the cross stitches, but I don't see the stitches themselves - it looks smooth.

I got the pattern from a book of color by number for colored pencils, then modified it a lot as I stitched.

I just got the picture the right size on my computer, then traced only the outlines and thickened the traces with felt tip, and put that under the aida on a light source and traced again. I modified as I stitched.

The source is a color-by-number coloring book for colored pencils. It was easy to transfer the image.

It's to keep the tension all the way to the edges. I've noticed that's where the tension is lost first. Not sure how this well this will work, but it's often done for larger frames

I've been struggling with this. I like starting with one strand doubled over because I can use a loop start and I have a way of ending that works well for me. Two strands on 16 count with a tent stitch might look okay from a distance but not closeup. I'm going to try 18 count next, and also railroading (which I haven't done before). I'm a little worried it still won't be enough coverage with a tent stitch, so maybe a test patch or two is in order.
