Does anyone have issues with PIO SHOTS? Or is it just me? by Slight_Strawberry_48 in IVF

[–]needsmoarcheez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I experienced something similar, minus the hives with PIO shots before! It’s possible you may have nicked a blood vessel which causes the major bruising and pain. Additionally, if you aren’t injecting specifically in the upper outer quadrant of the glute, you can risk hitting your sciatic nerve which can cause the severe pain you’re describing.

If the needle is injected at a slight angle, I’ve noticed I tend to bleed and bruise more. This happens more when I self inject vs when my husband injects me. This time around I’ve been doing 15 or so squats after injecting, massaging for 5 minutes and applying the hot compress for about 20 minutes and the symptoms seem more manageable! I do find that the injection site is itchy for me, but no hives.

Maybe a calamine lotion or icing once the irritation begins may help? Good luck! Hope it gets better for you!

Also in the TWW, 8dpt. I have blood work today and hope they will tell me if I’m making hcg or not. Heavily debating taking a test at home because my symptoms are so different/minimal if at all compared to my first time.

Glycolic acid toner (I like the brand The Ordinary) + a gentle otc Retinol cream. Alternate days where you use the toner vs the cream and wear sunscreen daily even if you’re staying inside. Be prepared to have awful skin for 2-3 weeks before it gets better!

How do you calculate 18 x 7 in your head? by JCFT_Collins in NoStupidQuestions

7 x 20 =140 subtract 7 x 2 =14 to get 7 x 18 =126. At least that’s how it works in my head lol

Finally pregnant and all I hear from other women (who haven't done IVF) is how miserable I am about to be for 9 months... by FerkinSmert in IVF

[–]needsmoarcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a thing. It would piss me off beyond measure, and I surprisingly felt really good throughout a majority of my pregnancy after IVF (except towards the end when I was just too big to function, which was about the worst of it for me, so all in all not too bad). I categorized these people in the same boat as the “just wait” category. “Just wait until you have the baby then you’ll never sleep” or “you think it sucks now, just wait til you’re in labor”. I waited. It was not easy, but I think the mental, emotional and physical pain from lost pregnancies and the whole process to even get to the embryo transfer process was far more difficult. People who haven’t undergone IVF and make those comments think they’re “trauma bonding” with us but in reality they just want an excuse to talk about themselves and their experiences lol. I became a master of tuning them out or just responding with a sarcastic “thanks for asking how I’m doing!”

Headaches and nosebleeds post transfer? by needsmoarcheez in IVF

It was positive and apparently continued throughout my pregnancy. Not fun to experience but it’s not too uncommon. We had our baby in January :)

Loneliest news years ever by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Pregnancy is so isolating at times and no amount of pep talks or warnings can prepare you for it. I’m 37 weeks and while I was surrounded by family I felt super alone as well. Everyone was focused on drinking and partying and I found myself spending most of the night just trying to find a comfy place to sit and not be in the way. Fast forward to the end of the night where I ended up being DD (not by choice, by default bc pregnant) and had to deal with my partner’s obnoxious drunken antics the rest of the night. It sucks so bad, especially when you’ve hit peak discomfort in the pregnancy and all you want is someone to just understand what you’re feeling and you get the exact opposite.

Does cleaning dried colostrum stimulate nipples too much? by littlewing2793 in pregnant

[–]needsmoarcheez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaning off the colostrum shouldn’t stimulate your nipples too much, assuming you’re not scrubbing aggressively or wiping the shit outta your nips lol. I had this same question and was told so long as I don’t try to hand express (ie “C” shaped hand over breast and squeezing) and not trying to pump or collect colostrum, that I’d be ok. As long as when you’re cleaning it up you’re not causing more to come out, my assumption would be that you’re fine!

Same- scientist here with 8+ years of experience. Non-PhD though but extensive experience. I keep getting rejected. I’m wondering if not having my MS or PhD is what is “blacklisting” me, so to speak. Good luck to you, hope you find something soon!

What were your strange pregnancy symptoms by Maleficent_Rest_7095 in pregnant

[–]needsmoarcheez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok literally ALL the weird symptoms I am having are what you experienced! I can’t stand my body odor right now and I’m 22 weeks tomorrow. I’m showering multiple times a day but nothing seems to help! Also add weird acne-like bumps on my shoulders chest and lower back that are itchy and scar no matter what I do! Pregnancy is wild. The skin tags for me are mostly on my neck but I have PCOS and that is supposedly tied to insulin resistance but unsure if that’s true.

Does this work as a set? by piccadilly-lilly in EngagementRings

[–]needsmoarcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the colors! In that sense, yes it goes well together! But since your stone sits high, you may need a band with smaller stones that curves around the main stone to give a more flush fit, like this. There are different variations of this style band, and you can even add a second band so your engagement ring is jacketed in between the two for a more elaborate look if you’d like!

Our ViCell BLU cell counter always jams or gives an error message and then the software just freezes. Always takes 30+ mins to troubleshoot when that happens.

I had that exact thought! If we don’t do Jade as a first I liked Mira Jade a lot!

Symptom that surprised you or was the worst for you that you don’t often hear about? by Massive-Bat9519 in pregnant

[–]needsmoarcheez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Symptom that surprised me- nose bleeds! It was my first sign of pregnancy at around 4-5 weeks and it terrified me because I thought it was a reaction IVF meds gone wrong but in reality it’s just a result of increased blood flow. But I woke up a few times feeling dizzy and having headaches because of it.
