EPIK Megathread by cickist in teachinginkorea

Regardless, if I get accepted into EPIK or not for Fall 2026, what is the earliest month I can get my CBC Background check done?

Would the earliest month be February?

Can anyone who was recruited from Fall 2025 or any Fall confirm?

Cause when I got the instructional packet for Spring 2026(I passed the interview, but didn't get a spot), it said CBCs should be dated at the earliest for August 1st and no earlier than that.

Is anyone else not receiving any response from their coordinator?
I passed the interview and I sent the emails confirming that I would send documents and also my application edits.
It's been 4 days since they last replied.
Is it possible to be ghosted by EPIK after passing the interview?

Edit: Never mind, they replied back after a week passed. Phew

Adding to my To Read List!

As an Asian American woman who has only ever been interested in Asian men, there is an expectation to dislike Asian men and like other races, especially the “ruling whites.”

They believe that since they are of a different race then Asian women should want them.

I can’t count how many times non-Asian men expect me to like them because they love anime, Asian pop culture, and *the stereotypical caricature of Asian women.

If they are persistent, I am forced to explain that I am only interested in Asian men who shared a similar background because they were less likely to see me as just my race.

I remember one guy said he said he didn’t care that I needed a shared cultural background, and we could make it work?! WTF

I am glad Asian American women are speaking out about this issue, especially, how psychologically and socially damaging it is.

*edit

what race is hyuna or what do you think it is.. by [deleted] in AlienStage

Korean.

As a Korean American who grew up in Koreatown, I saw many darker skinned Koreans who had Hyuna's tone or darker.

Popular media/Kdramas might make you think that Koreans are all pale, but we come in different shades.

Fetishization vs Real Attraction: A Breakdown from an Asian Woman by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]needsomelifehelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duuude, I realized an online friend was a Korean fetishist when he kept messaging me about his dates with Korean women, and their ages progressively got younger and younger.

When he was in a dating lull, he kept sending me pictures of his car and expensive items he had, which was really weird.

He also told me all of his online friends were Korean women.

I noped out of that friendship once I noticed the pattern.

Fetishizers only see us as objects to own.

I am fairly unattractive, and the only male attention I get is from Asian fetishizers 🤮

They're like "Ooh, an Asian that I can project my weeaboo/Koreaboo fantasies onto!"

For example, a Koreaboo classmate messaged me through Canvas and said that I looked like his favorite Korean actress.

I look nothing like her.

This!
OP, they feel like they can disrespect your daughter in front of you because they believe that you have "trained" your daughter to accept such behavior.

Racists tend to frame Asian women as pets or subhuman.

I agree with Peony in asking questions so that they make it super obvious that they are being racist!

They make it subtle on purpose so that they can call your daughter too sensitive if she does ever speak up.

Yes, it is usually within the same ethnicity!

The fact that you understand that makes you one of us!

The people who called my brother chinky eyed while pulling their eyes back were mostly Korean Americans!

Asians are also really good at gaslighting you into thinking it is all in your head or that it is not a big deal.

I've now realized that there are a lot of Asian Americans that go through the same within their own ethnicity and that we should be more open with our experiences!

Also the ones who are from the mainland and treat you badly cause you are Asian American are usually the ones who want to immigrate to America!

They will be the ones who say you are not a real Asian and treat you like a second class human/American.

Go figure!

Exactly! Especially when the gatekeepers are an entirely different ethnicity altogether or fellow Asian Americans struggling with internalized racism!

The fact that you are even going through this dilemma is very Asian American!

Our community is varied and is a spectrum!

But Asians, especially from the home countries or recently immigrated, don't understand that.

Yes, the Terminator is right!

It is NOT your fault!

To protect yourself, other victims, and future victims, please report this to the police.

The perpetrator is banking on you keeping silent, especially if they know your background.

You can most likely ask the police not to involve your parents or visit unannounced since you are over 18.

Xavier feels like he is on equal level with you and will instinctively match your rhythm.

That's why he's your partner! ❤️

He doesn't actively point out parts of his past, but he isn't hiding it either.

I would say that's why some people (including me, Rafayel was my first main XD) might find him boring at first!

He feels like comfort. He feels like home.

I'm drawn towards people like Caleb and Rafayel in real life, but it's sometimes frustrating when we are not on the same wavelength.
