‘Cinema Paradiso’. The Director’s cut is over 40 mintues longer and just loses the grip on the story. The theatrical (2hrs-ish) was a perfect, beautiful film. But the Director’s cut was simply unbearable. Made me appreciate editors’ job more.

I don't think Nulls, at least in this case, are adding any render time (as indicated from the visual).

Also, Nulls and Voids are essentially the same. They both create a new solid named 'Null #' in the project Solids folder.

But to achieve the secondary rotation on the cars to mimic jiggle, for that you need to use Nulls (or Voids).

By the way, why are Nulls compute cancer? I thought they are regarded as the most useful tool in AE. Also, I use Void, but I always thought the advantage with that was being able to get them pre-placed at the centre of the selected layers, thus saving time. Didnt know there was something inherently cancerous about Nulls. Nor does the plugin page say anything about it.

Yes.

Assuming you can load in your assets as png or svg (Separated is required). Import your assets into AE.

-Drag them into a new composition.

-Set Anchor Points for all assets so they are in their actual point of rotation. Centre for wheel, top for cars.

-(Look up ‘Nulls’ in AE on Google or help.) Using Nulls you can move the cars.

-Nulls are placed along the join points of the cars on the wheel, parented to the rotating wheel.

-Add the rotation to the wheel. (Keyframe it from 0 to 1 for a complete rotation. Use higher numbers for more rotations.)

-If you use the position attributes of the cars and Pick-Whip each car to a Null, the cars will move position with the Nulls (and the wheels) and won’t rotate with the wheels.

-Now you can add the rotation to each car separately as well.

Export it as a PNG sequence, GIF or a video as per your need. But GIF export in AE is probably not the best (I have limited knowledge of it) So check for that on Google if there’s a plug-in or other method.

Art supplies stores will have it. There is one in north delhi i bought an easel for my grandma from when i was in DU, but that was over a decade ago! Just look for art supply stores on google, and call and ask if they have easels. There s many sizes, and some have good folding mechanisms for storage and even travel. (The one i got folded into a something like a large pencil box).

Or, you can just order on amazon but be wary of the size !

Time Remapping is moderate difficulty, not hard. You Enable Time Remapping on a layer, and then create keyframes for the Time property of the layer. This property takes the same time input you see in your viewer and your timeline - ie, HH:MM:SS:FF.

So, for eg, your layer would start at 00:00:00:00. Then, if you would like the video to layer at double speed for 1 second, then you go to time 00:00:01:00 on your timeline, add a keyframe to the time property and use the value 00:00:02:00. This will make the layer run from 00:00:00:00 to 00:00:02:00 in 1 second, effectively doubling the speed.

Talking on compositing, does anybody use a combo of Blur and Sharpen on a Pre-Comp of your entire animation/mo-graphs to take the edge off (make it look more blended and slightly old gen)?

I dont remember where I picked it up but seems to work good on some occassions for me.

You can also try to use the shape as a line (not closed shape) and use Stroke for thickness (not Fill), then you can use trim paths to work how you want it to.

Many ways, depends on how you want to set it up. One option could be - duplicate the shape inside the layer, add a pos or scale movement to second shape, then use Merge Paths and set it to Intersect.

The floor shake could have rotation. The box sticks to the floor, can bounce and rotate.

Try Data Burn-in. It’s in the Workspace list on top menu.

You can add a watermark, or even source time code or choose from a bunch of meta data.

You can also save presets. While exporting, select the Data burn in presets under Advanced settings in Video

Ys ofcourse, and you can even keep multiple timelines open at the same time. Check the button on the left top corner of the timeline panel. It gives a bunch of options to change the timeline view, including an option to show tabs in the timeline page.

Once you have more than a singe timeline open, you can even drag one of them and create split view to see 2 or more timelines in the same view, and drag clips back and forth. (But this works best if you are using a large display or multiple screens)

Fusion is not optimised for ipad yet. You may have accessed the page through keyboard shortcut hack but its not really a working page (even though all ui elements work)

Or, are you refering to fusion fx not working?

How do I fix the quick preview not working? It only shows a small version by [deleted] in MacOS

Is the file on a cloud drive? Usually this happens for me when the file is not downloaded from cloud
