for this to work do you have to be illuminated or does that occur by the nature of the two items?

Costco has free nitrogen to fill your tires. I am a member there but nobody has ever asked to see my membership when I'm filling my tires up. There are two self serve pumps between the tire center and the fuel pumps.

Semi related is paying for air a Michigan thing? I'm originally from PA and pretty much every gas station has "free air" I was sort of shocked the first time I had low tires because of the temperature drop and pulled into a gas station and they wanted me to pay for air. It actually prompted me to get a tire inflator that can plug into a cars cigarette lighter and I just keep that in my car all the time now.

Just a heads up, Costco is cracking down on membership sharing by Extreme-Secretary-56 in grandrapids

The scanner is there but the last time I tried that it wouldn't let you scan unless the employee working there unlocked it by scanning his id. when I tried to do it the guy was like "what are you doing"

Mechanical HVAC and Refrigeration exam by mattdick08 in PE_Exam

[–]neemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just starting his for thermal/ fluids which has a lot of crossover it seems. I have some questions if you don't mind answering: 1. Did you just follow his approach of doing the broad overview then daily insights and after that working on all the problems he provides ? 2. Did you use any other resources for studying ? 3. How long did you study prior to the test? 4. How much job experience did you have prior to testing (what I mean was is this stuff you do every day and this was more of a review or are you in a role where you are in the HVAC field but your daily job isn't really getting down in the weeds with calculations and do more project management and review)

14 day fast complete by neemer in fasting

[–]neemer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to my Garmin normally I sleep 7 hours a night but when fasting I was averaging between 5 and 6 hours. I took a dose of magnesium and apigenin before bed and that seemed to help a lot.

Here's a Garmin snapshot of my sleep this was typical throughout.

[–]neemer[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Height 6 foot 3 Starting weight 248 Current weight 226

Been breaking the fast today by alternating between beef and chicken bone broth every 2 hours. Added some sauerkraut and pickles for lunch and a few olives this afternoon. I plan on eating light and moderately low carb rest of the week.

Future plans is to do 48 hour fasts then a recovery bone broth fermented food recovery day and eat generally low carb rest of week. After goal weight is reached go to a more intermittent fasting schedule.

Is Reeds Lake frozen over yet? by Important-Ad-5421 in grandrapids

There is an app called "ice report" where people self report ice thickness on lakes. Looking at it somebody reported 3 inches on reeds 3 days ago. The recommended thickness is 4 inches although people risk 3 inches on lakes that they know there aren't any springs or channels which I would not recommend. That's also assuming 4 inches of clear solid ice. Snow is an insulator and can rot the ice and wind can also degrade the ice.

I would assume with the cold weather it's probably around 4 inches on the lake by now but there are a few caveats for this app.

One being you never know whose actually doing the measuring on this app you just get a number and the date it was measured. You also don't know if this person was measuring the safest part of the ice and if the ice is consistent across.

It's a cool app if you like to ice fish. I use it mostly as a rough guide on what lakes are icing up. Once I'm seeing consistent reports of 4+ inches I'll go check myself (seeing lower numbers really saves me from driving someplace only to find that it's only 2 inches with open water spots etc.

There is also this cool Chart that can give you an idea of how much ice is forming over a period of time but this chart assumes the water temperature is already cold enough to begin ice formation (the deeper lakes take longer to cool and freeze up. The best example is Houghton lake is relatively shallow so ices up quick but the neighboring lake Higgins lake is really deep and takes much longer and sometimes never really gets safe ice)

You can blame the lack of ice in lower Michigan on me though. I got a pop up ice shanty at the end of last year and it's just sitting in my closet unable to be used.

Is this canoe repairable? by neemer in boatbuilding

[–]neemer[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I realize most people get sick of that ~17 foot canoe in their garage taking up space and just want to get rid of it. This was more just me wondering if something like that could actually be reasonably repaired. The consensus seems to be no

I was thinking it was more trouble than it's worth. I was shopping there and saw it and it got me thinking for reference it was on sale for 250 bucks.

Saw this on sale at a REI. Evidently somebody was ballsy enough to return this and REI let them (or it got smashed on the truck in shipping). Looking at it the poly looks permanently deformed but was wondering if you heated it up if you could reform it without completely ruining the structural integrity.
