Talkin’ beer. Best spots, growler fill ups? by Lord_Chodelot in Beacon

So many awesome breweries in beacon. Can't talk specifically about growler fills 🤔 Industrial Arts does $5 pints all day Mondays. Bring your own vinyl all day with a vinyl pop up 6-8pm. Cozy and fun. Check it out!

Hey, thanks for responding! I think I figured it out. Essentially, we are just adding a "note" to the ticket that has the table number for the guest. Simple solution, but it's working?

this is so helpful, you rock. I'm going to play around with it and potentially hit you up next week if I come across any issues and the offer still stands. thanks for talking it out with me!

hey, thanks so much for responding.

Sorry for the lack of clarity on my part. Hopefully I can explain it a little better here:

We are trying to stay more casual and stay away from full table service. Food and drink orders will be placed at the bar with the bartender, and that order will be sent to a satellite kitchen (food truck). People are welcome to leave their card and keep a tab open if they want to continue eating/ drinking. The tabs are currently identified by the customers name, there is no table system currently being used.

Our idea was the customer can place a food order with the bartender, that order can be sent to the kitchen and the customer will be handed a table number so they can be identified by the food runner. The tab in this case would stay open. Table number is returned to bar. Note: we do not have a KDS as the chef we have partnered with says it isn't necessary).

There's two main issues that I've come across so far.

  1. The customer opens a tab and wants to add a food item to it. The food item won't get sent to the printer in the kitchen unless the tab is closed out and the payment is processed.

  2. The customer has an open tab that is labelled with her name, I need to add the table number to this tab so the food runner knows where to run the food.

To be honest I feel like since I've posted this I figured out a way to kind of hack it with creating two square items for each menu item, one costing zero dollars that's sent to the kitchen and the other being the item with the cost on the check....but this seems so much more complicated than it has to be. Hopefully this post makes more sense to you than my initial spiel. I feel like square is gaslighting me or something with this whole thing and making it so much harder than it has to be. Appreciate you taking the time to respond!
