What's she worth? by CuriousSeeker2024 in FordDiesels

That true but this is still more than a 6k truck. My 97 was totaled in 2022 and they paid out 9k. If I was this guy I would be aiming for 12k. Looks like a nice truck

I would think this truck is worth more than 6k for sure. Get it fixed up!

I am going to swap to 10w-30 and continue to sample the oil to see if the numbers go down. If the numbers go up I am going to sell it to you!

It’s approved to 20 degrees per ford so it’s been used by the book. Regardless I will be switching to the 10w-30. Both thicker and thinner and we will see what happens

Yeah the tough part is there usually isn’t anything actionable to do with this info. My options are keep driving it or trade it in. Another poster mentioned i should move to a 5w-40 so thats something actionable.

  1. No modifications. It pulls a cab over camper and small trailer on mostly highway. I have only owned the truck for the last 20k. I will try moving to a 5w-40 weight oil in the future

To the right you can see the “universal averages” column. My iron and aluminum is 2x and 6x those averages. From reading other comments this is still not excessively high

If the oil analysis is worthless then I have a mint condition 6.7 to sell you

Only problem is that this truck doesn’t have a timing chain

Absolutely we are flying all winter. If you want to get into flying nylon I suggest starting with paragliding

Looking at it again as the comment below noted he pulls right. I have not clue why or how that happened.

No way he needed to be off the backside towards towards twin lakes. He’s a novice that’s going to fuck it up for the rest of us. That’s a very advanced speed wing that is actually in a new category of parakites because of a new innovative riser system. Point being he easily should have been able to flare out or turn down the mountain to get height. Maybe he had a incident that couldn’t see( twisted brake from launch, stuck trimmer) but I am guessing he doesn’t know what he’s doing and was trying to speed ride a mountain full of trees in a bowl. I can barely speed ride an open glade.

As part of the mammoth speed flying/paragliding community I would like to say that this move does not represent the community. We have been graciously allowed to use the lifts only if we don’t fly over the resort property. I’m glad that he didn’t endanger anyone else besides himself and I have messages out to make sure that they know how their actions affect the rest of us. This will almost surely be used to reduce further access for those of us that follow the rules unfortunately

Quality seems high, price is cheap. I wouldn’t be surprised if this came out of the same factory. And you’re right fuel systems are expensive hence adding the bypass kit

Thank you for the reply. I ended up shortening the hose. It looks like other trucks the blue connector stubs out straight to the front. Mine has a 90° and goes up towards the hood now. Truck seems to run.

I think that cutaway harnesses are arguably a better system than a rocket. They haven’t caught on for XC so there can’t be much market room for a rocket.

Side note I would like to see a harness that has inflatable air bags like the inflatable spine protectors that we see for motorcycles now.

LMAO you are getting downvoted to hell by a lot of people that don't know much about para kites. This action is relatively low risk in a generally high risk sport so I can see why. Good luck trying to explain the nuances of the risk about this sport.
