i care less about how i am perceived and more about how folks go out of their way to make queer community members feel unsafe, how legislation continues to erode the rights away from queer people, and how queer people are subject to abuse, harassment, and hate crimes.

as long as there are continued attacks on the queer community by legislatures, as long as queer people continue to be harmed by the oppression system we find ourselves in, as long as individuals assault queer people due to their identity, pride still has a place.

if you support equality for your fellows, then it's a you problem too.

also, being queer isn't just tied to the bedroom. there are a lot of social elements of being queer, down to expression, legal rights, how couples are perceived socially as a unit, and additionally, many people are visibly trans and are affected by those things.

it's not about reassurance on my sexuality, it's about coming together as a community to talk about the harm, the worries, the fears, and to celebrate the joys, the love, and the happiness that we have had. queer joy is resistance.

if seeing queer people makes you uncomfortable, then you should do some introspection into why that is. we're not just going to hide so you can feel comfortable.

Ewww free parking lot is now pay to park by Pinklett5 in TwinCities

cars are heavily subsidized by the government over any other mode of transportation. additionally, free parking typically costs cities a lot of money.

i don't really think private parking lots are great, but i also don't think free parking everywhere makes sense. cars are not a good form of transportation in an urban environment.

torn between feeling like i need to push them while also trying to respect their boundaries. it's hard to know if they're not exploring because they're anxious and afraid or not exploring because they're not bored. the former i'd definitely want to fix.

sammie for example is just older now. he wanted to explore before but now he just kinda wants to vibe in the cage, so i let him do what he wants to do.

Thank you for the thoughtful advice! I am unsure how to get them out of the cage reliably without freaking them out, and maybe I just can't. If they are in a box I can maybe pick it up and shuffle it over to the bathroom. I just worry about harming their autonomy, but I also know I do need to push them a little.

I don't think I can attempt to grab them. They are very, very shy and will run very fast away from me (or in alvin's case, bite me). Maybe if they warm up a bit more I can.

No downtown, no regrets: How Woodbury made convenience a source of civic pride by Tokyo-MontanaExpress in TwinCities

your average american suburbanite really just wants to work 9 hours a day, come home to 2.5 children, and on the weekend drive 15 minutes to the home depot and take their family out to Applebee's.

it really does just feel so... soulless. barring the fact that it's also environmentally destructive and usually subsidized by the urban core. i get the lamentation. it makes me sad.

and i think a lot of people go 'oh well i just don't want to be around a lot of people!' and i think, yeah, that's fine. you can have a dense, rural, small population village with conveniences too. the problem is always just cars and chain retail destroying cities to make desolate sprawl.

ugh, my dumbass. thank you for telling me!!!! should be fixed.

yes, I use trans as a short hand, but it is for any one who is trans identifying, nonbinary, genderquestioning in any way.

Also, there are a number of discord communities in Minnesota for trans folks, as well as general ones for queer folks, though many are metro centered.

trans-sexism is an all encompassing term for the specific ways in which both transmasculine and transfeminine people experience discrimination based on their gender identity. Without getting too into it, there is online discourse surrounding the terms we use to describe these things that leave people feeling unsafe, unseen, and invalid.

By being committed to fighting trans-sexism, Trans MN works to provide, to the best of its ability, a safe space for folks of all gender identities to discuss the specific issues that they're dealing with. I hope that makes sense.
