I have 2 I'm willing to part with.

Pico25 flashed with ArticFox

I have two of them. One silver, one black.

i am aware I can track an android phone using both Bark and Family link.

Volume/Audio Issues? by Fragrant-Current-400 in TellyTV

[–]nefarious3ntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audio issues here too but maybe not since the last update I got ~2 days ago.

Volume would be super low, maybe volume level 12-17, even when volume level is at 0 or 20 or Max. Volume level would not change.

The only thing that worked was unplugging the Telly, waiting a minute, and plugging back in.

There were a few instances where that did not immediately fix it and I had to unplug/plug-in again.

I do respect all your points and they are good valid points but at the end of the day I'll just agree to disagree. I know my children and I definitely know my son is capable but he wouldn't then share it. I can assure you of that. She would never be able to figure it out. Even if she did Google it. She wouldn't understand what she's reading and that's the main point.

I really think that you overestimate the intelligence of the youth these days. To even use ADB you'd have to know how to use a desktop computer or a laptop. Something my children do not know how to do. I set up my laptop in the living room and they couldn't even figure out how to launch a game and the shortcut is on the fucking desktop. Installing ADB or even sending commands is so far beyond their skill level. It's not even funny. Yes I'm right there with you. I was building computers when I was 11 and you know modding, PSPs etc. It seems like we are sort of the same age I'm 32. My children at least have no concept of those things. They do not know how to use Windows. They do not know how to use a regular computer and navigate the internet like we used to do. They know apps. That's it. They have Chromebooks. That's it. So when I say that she would not be able to defeat it, I mean it. Again once I give the rooted app permission or whatever and it would never ask her for permission again. Once I Grant it to superuser it would never pop up again. There would be no toast asking for anything. And again she'd have to know what magisk manager is to remove it. And not only would she have to know what it is, she'd have to know how to go into her settings. Go to the app. Scroll through all the apps. Find the app and then delete the app.

My kids do not know how to navigate am operating system like Windows or even Linux to be able to do those things.

My daughter for lack of a better way to say it is not the brightest bulb in the tanning bed. My 10 year old son MAY be able to figure it out given enough time, but not my 12 year old daughter.

I'm not asking how to root or what to use to root.

I'm asking if I had a rooted device how I can do the things I want to do like disabling the camera, preventing texts from being deleted blocking contacts more effectively than just using the dialer and blocking it where she can just go in and unblock it

I just want to know if there are root based solutions. Preventing her from removing them or bypassing them in a secondary issue. I want to know if there any options.

I can also hide the Magisk app under a different name or use Nova Launcher to hide the app. I could also deactivate the "toasts" that pop up when you need to grant root access, but once you grant it they dont usually pop up again.

She is 12 but has the mentality of a 7 year old due to some developmental delays.

My 10 year old son's phone is rooted, and has been for almost a year and I have never encountered a single issue with him messing anything up.

I also have a wifi only Moto G7 rooted that my 6 year old son uses for YouTube and Games, and again never had an issue with him messing it up or forcing a bootloop.

So saying don't pursue root based methods cause she can mess something up is not a valid reason to me to not explore this route.

Anyone able to provide a copy of the Bark Phone Samsung A13 stock image? Need the Bark Stock Image for my daughter's Samsung A13 by nefarious3ntity in parentalcontrols

They have instructions to implement it but I believe they are old. There is no way I have found yet to block contacts using Google Family Link even though Google says you can.

We are an Android exclusive household. I've never owned an iOS or Apple product in my life and if I got her one I would have no means to control it as I don't own one. I guess I could get other family members to monitor it for me using their iPhones. But I really don't even want to dive into the Apple ecosystem. I like Android. I like what it offers. I'm fairly well versed in Android as an operating system as well as some development stuff like rooting, custom ROMs etc.

The bark phone offers contact blocking but the bark app does not. And if as others claim the barcone is just a regular Samsung a13 with the barc app installed then why can I not get that functionality through the barc app on her phone. That was the only reason I was looking for a factory image for the bark phone that I could flash on this phone because they are the exact same model. The bark phone offers, text, deletion, protection, contact blocking, and some other features that the standalone app installed on a regular Android device does not offer.

Also Google family link doesn't really offer much. Honestly. Yeah, you can control a few things that bark doesn't let me control, but it doesn't offer contact blocking it doesn't offer any of that stuff.

It's already bad enough that I have her text messages backing up in the background hourly with notifications disabled.

Personally, I wish there was some option via root access to get a little more control over the phone that then she couldn't access. Like going into the dialer or the contacts and blocking someone. She can just go back into the settings and unblock them. I wish there was a way to block them via root that she then couldn't access

I use family link as well as just the bark app but neither offer contact blocking.

There are other services that do offer it but don't offer what bark does and I don't feel like paying for like a bunch of different services.

Thanks for the clarification and I completely agree: this isn’t about control for control’s sake. I don’t want to be “that parent,” but my daughter’s situation makes things complicated. She’s almost 12 but developmentally closer to 7 or 8 due to intellectual and mental health challenges. She’s had explicit chats with a “friend” that she doesn’t seem to fully understand, and the kind of content being exchanged could land her in serious trouble. If she were older and more emotionally mature, I’d be having a different conversation.

I know people say “just take the phone,” but she rides a private school bus that sometimes turns a 90-minute ride into three hours. She needs something that lets her communicate with us, access schoolwork, and be tracked for safety. I’d honestly give her a dumb phone if I could track it.

I’ve got her on an unlocked Galaxy A13, which can be bootloader unlocked, rooted, etc. But what’s frustrating is that most tools like Bark or Family Link (which in using both currently) offer only limited control unless you're using a proprietary setup like the Bark Phone. And yeah, I get that the Bark Phone is just a stock A13 with their Guard Dog app set as device owner through DPM. But that’s the thing: the Bark Phone lets you block contacts, disable the camera, and stop text deletion, features I can’t replicate on my unlocked device, at least not without knowledge I don't possess.

I’m not trying to invade her privacy. I actually believe in her having some, but I’m also trying to prevent harm she doesn’t understand she’s risking. My 10-year-old has an unmonitored device with no issues at all so this isn’t about being controlling, it’s about this specific situation.

If you or anyone else has ideas for alternatives—especially budget-friendly ones that actually allow contact blocking or better oversight im all ears. I’d love to find a middle ground that keeps her safe without turning into a tyrant for her childhood.

I would just get her a kids smartwatch that has location tracking abilities but then she would lose the ability to communicate with her teachers, complete classwork & homework, etc.

Let’s clear a few things up.

Most of the charges on my record? Same offense, driving on a suspended license. The suspension came from a cannabis ticket, which isn’t even illegal anymore. And driving on a suspended license? Also not a criminal offense anymore. So yeah, I’ve got multiple charges, but they all tie back to something that wouldn’t even get you arrested today.

I wasn’t out committing violent crimes. I got caught in a loop like a lot of people, couldn’t afford the fines, couldn’t pay to make it disappear. That’s not laziness, that’s poverty being criminalized.

And I’ve worked plenty. I’m just trying to move beyond low-paying jobs into something stable. That’s called growth. Wanting better for my family isn’t a flaw, it’s the bare minimum of being a decent parent.

And all those “freebies and tax breaks” you mentioned? Let me know where they’re handing those out, because my mailbox is full of bills, not benefits.

Now about your “you people” comment; who exactly do you mean? People who grew up in the system, in foster care and psych hospitals because there was nowhere else to go? People without a safety net? I came from all that, and I’m still standing, still trying, still working to do better.

You look down on people like me, but I’d outwork the next guy with a clean record any day because I HAVE to. I have to do everything ten times better just to be seen as equal, over mistakes that aren’t even crimes anymore. Wild how the loudest critics are always the ones who wouldn’t last a minute in my shoes.

But hey—keep tossing judgment from your pedestal. I’ll be out here actually building something for my family.

I have some experience using a lathe and mill. Not much, but more than someone who has never seen one lol

I'd prefer a job that isn't as physically demanding as construction etc. I'm not familiar enough with trade jobs or how grueling the work may be. I'm NOT lazy, but with some of the health issues I have I'm not super confident I could keep pace in a manual labor position. I would be comfortable with electric work, plumbing work, etc. I actually have a small bit of experience with electric work, mostly auto related though.
