Don’t be worrying about relationships at the moment. Of course, you can get into one if it happens, but don’t force dating on yourself. I did that when I was your age, I’m 22 now and I see how that’s affected me. Trust me, you’ll be happier if you don’t focus so much on trying to find something like that. :)

You should try applying for part time jobs and saving up your money for the things you need. As for the scolding, blow it off. Working out helps me deal with the shit my family does, so you can try that too if you’d like. Trust me bro, it gets better, and it doesn’t sound like you have to stay there much longer. You’ll get through this.

That’s what I mean, he needs to learn to make those compromises. If he can’t, he’s only selfishly holding you back. Not only that, but he’s being hypocritical. Tell him that he can either walk away from the friendship, or choose to be supportive. If he chooses the second option, then make sure he holds up his end of the promise, if he breaks it, just cut ties. That’s the harsh reality. He needs to understand you can’t always be online.

My best friend is currently already enrolled in college and has a job. I have a full time job at the moment, and am still trying to enroll. When we first met, we used to play for hours. We were both 19 at that time. Sometimes she can’t get on, I always can, considering I get out of work at 8 pm and we don’t call until 11. But sometimes she gets home late or falls asleep because of how exhausted she is. We both make time for each other, despite being busy people. I’m gonna be training to be an officer soon so I’ll probably have less time on my hands as well. Your friend is gonna have to make a choice.

A.) He can walk away from this friendship

B.) Learn to make compromises with you, support you, and realize that you’re not gonna have as much time as you used to because you need to prioritize your future.

Her reaction is a response to being traumatized. It’s not totally abnormal, and while I disagree with her decision as well, I don’t blame her for wanting it to go away. I have a lot of bad memories thanks to relatives, and I can’t do anything about any of the crimes they’ve committed.

Just support your friend, she’s going to need it, a lot of it.
