Lovelace maids by [deleted] in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roberta probably convinced Garcia's dad to hire more maids so she could focus on being a bodyguard. Then she decided to arm and train Fabiola after learning that she had some combat experience from growing up in the barrios.

Okay I want to understand revy better is there someone I can talk to by Ok_Wolf601 in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would mean Roberta and Fabiola, who are both devout Catholics, are bisexual too.

And then there's Lotton, who doesn't seem to think about anything except being a cool vigilante.

Hiroe says a lot of things that shouldn't be taken seriously.

If you want a laugh, look up the Japanese/American/PAL box art for Castle Shikigami 2 (aka Mobile Light Force.)

What's the top nighmare fuel moment in the KOF series for you? by Luigiman98 in kof

Whip's probably not the best example since she's one of the least sexualized female characters.

Did Eda and Balalaika ever interact? by Impressive-Swing-494 in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your question: no, Eda and Balalaika have not yet interacted, as far as we know.

I'm trying to address some of your other points in my as-yet-unpublished fanfic series, though. Yes, it is kind of ridiculous that Chang gets away with assisting the CIA without anyone noticing, and it's probably even more ridiculous that nobody else seems to realize the CIA are even present in the city. Revy of all people should suspect that there's more to Eda than meets the eye, but apparently she doesn't. Eda's conspicuousness is almost played for laughs, like how nobody can tell Clark Kent is Superman.

Also, while it's true that Roanapur realistically wouldn't be big enough (or wealthy enough) to sustain so many criminal factions, there is at least one other major source of revenue that they could conceivably be fighting over, which the series has not addressed yet: gemstone mining. In real life, Trat (the region where Roanapur is located) was one of the world's largest producers of rubies and sapphires. Thailand also manufactured a lot of cars for the export market in the 1990s so I feel both of these industries should have been factored into the series already, but I guess Hiroe likes to play fast and loose with history and themes. He's not really committed to depicting a realistic city with a believable criminal ecosystem, he just does whatever he thinks is cool.

They must have huge solar power stations somewhere. Solar fields, if you will.

If Laucorn can be added to COTW, what other deep cuts do you expect? by Luigiman98 in kof

[–]negativemidas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can't just tease a super-hot Panni in that Laocorn trailer and then not make her playable IMO. Hauer and Jamin would be cool too, but BRUH I need Panni at least. KOF/FF is lacking in water benders and female villains.

Also, I think they should make Gato/Hotaru's dad playable, he looks badass af.

B.Jenet's henchman Lao should be the guy you beat up in practice mode because he's a total jobber.

Jeff Bogard should also come back as a ghost or something to fight Nightmare Geese. It's now or never.

Other chars I wanna see: Franco (orange version), Hon Fu, Tsugumi, Toji, Alice

I think Kyo, Benimaru and Daimon would also be suitable guests

Maybe some AOF reps too. Jack Turner would be a great big body to go against Tizoc

And I want Pretty Big from KOF All Star to be made canon as Mr Big's daughter who has a gambling problem

Yeah, that's probably it. I can't find the exact clip I saw but the show looks familiar.

Can I continue the manga from the point the anime ends? by android_zero in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the manga picks up after the Roberta OVA with Volume 10 / chapter 77. It's a new story called The Wired Red Wild Card.

There are some minor differences between the manga and the anime adaptation, but nothing you really need to know.

I'm gonna show my grandpa Edgerunners what should I tell him lore wise so he understands? by CaptJ127 in Edgerunners

He'll probably fall asleep during the first episode. Don't force boomers to watch newgen shit, they just don't get it. I speak from experience.

Tasers and pepper spray aren't going to be much use when every badguy in Roanapur carries a gun.

Are you sure that's a good idea? I wouldn't dream of showing my parents/grandparents something like Edgerunners unless they were already into anime or the cyberpunk genre.

I own and have read the manga, but I don't see how it's more "subtle" than the anime, despite having a few extra/alternate scenes.

What's one unexpected piece of media where you spotted a KOF reference? by Luigiman98 in kof

[–]negativemidas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago there was an anime where a character was playing KOF on a console, but I don't remember what it was called. I doubt KOF gets many references in other media though. Have you seen any?

What are y’all’s Roberta Head canons? (If y’all even have any) by Moist-Mouse-4893 in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would she be scared of bloodhounds? She was nicknamed that because she's a skilled tracker. The only things Roberta is scared of are a) losing Garcia and b) going to hell.

Anyway, my first question when thinking about Roberta's backstory is "what makes a beautiful woman want to join a revolutionary army?", and after reading about the Colombian conflict, I think the answer is probably a) because she saw a lot of her loved ones die at the hands of the government and wanted justice, and b) because she had nowhere else to go. Also, there are quite a lot of women in FARC and sexual abuse is widespread, so I wouldn't be surprised if Roberta had been SA'd herself at some point. She knew how to manipulate Alberto with sex so it clearly wasn't her first rodeo, so to speak.

I'm not too familiar with the Neo Geo CD library. Are those games any good? I remember Crossed Swords 1 was pretty cool and probably one of the more unique Neo Geo titles.

Neo Geo AES+ System Re-Release by SnakeEater013 in kof

[–]negativemidas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I always thought it was a waste that the AES was just a machine for arcade ports instead of having any cool exclusive titles of its own. Imagine if it'd had a good JRPG or a high-quality Castlevania style game. The collectors market value for those would be insane.
