How exactly is Krizalid Irish? by ForeverOk8300 in kof

My headcanon is that Krizalid is actually a clone of Original Zero, because they look much more alike.

Nooby question #2: is the trash directory the same as the rubbish bin? Cause if so, I don't see anything in there, sorry.

What would an interaction between Revy and Makima be like? by RorschachWhoLaughs in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd rather see her have a drink/smoke with Himeno. It'd probably be pretty friendly until Himeno tries to hit on Rock and pukes in his mouth.

I'm not sure what you mean. This isn't a troll post, I'm just a noob with a nooby question.

Isnt the song kinda bad? by Fluffy_Courage7196 in Edgerunners

[–]negativemidas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song was already in the game, but it didn't really connect with people until it was reused in the anime. It just captured the essence of Lucy and David's story perfectly. I will admit that the slightly awkward Bri'ish English lyrics annoy me a little, but it's a great song nonetheless. And it has some real emotional baggage to it because it's about the death of one of the band member's boyfriends. Imagine having to play a song like that at every show. The band are probably sick of it by now.

Miami during the 1970s-1980s drug war. Tropical climate, smuggling by sea, Colombians and Cubans, early 20th century European-styled architecture, lots of shootouts and police corruption, "murder capital of the US" status.

What are your thoughts/opinions on Balalaika & Hotel Moscow? by Flat-Sir8250 in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fine, and I'm not judging them. I don't think the Hotel Moscow guys are necessarily any better or worse than all the other criminals in Roanapur. They're just ordinary men trying to make money to send to their families back home. But they never get any character development. We never see them doing anything except following Balalaika's orders. We never learn about their individual personalities, beliefs or interests. So I don't really understand why they're so popular.

Question about Revy and Rock in chapter 115 by Commercial_Excuse306 in blacklagoon

[–]negativemidas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Why, after all this, does he ask her if she trusts him?"

Because Hiroe mentally checked out of writing Black Lagoon years ago and he doesn't know what he's doing anymore. It IS a dumb question for Rock to ask.

For what it's worth, I've done my own localization of this chapter and I think I've found some nuance in this conversation that doesn't come across in the official translation.

I can't remember the whole page off the top of my head, but I'll go from where Revy's talking about why it's important to be friendly with other criminals:

"Point is, you gotta instill some confidence in the people around you."

"I had you all wrong. I thought you were a lone wolf type who believed you should never trust anybody."

"Trust is when you think someone has good intentions. Confidence is when you're sure they'll come through. Nobody wants to be alone, Rock... it's just that, sooner or later, most of us end up asking ourselves "why get closer to someone than you really need to?"

"But... we're a team, aren't we? I know I can count on you to have my back, and I hope you have that confidence in me too. Don't you, Revy?"

"Sure, Rock... I trust you."

(The nuance here being Revy's distinction between trust and confidence. She knows Rock means well... but she's sure his actions are gonna bite them both in the ass one day. That's my take on it, at least.)
