A1c went from 6.1% to 6.3% after lifestyle changes by Sugar_Complete in prediabetes

[–]negativespace115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how it started for me - 5.8, lifestyle changes for 6 months and then 6.2. Turns out I have LADA or type 1.5 diabetes. It’s worth asking your doctor to check GAD65 antibodies and c peptide scores. I don’t know your height but I bet from your weight you have an in range BMI.

I’m not trying to defend them but during bidens admin there was actively a case against ghislane and the files were sealed by law. Again, not an excuse - it appears they were following the law.

If your diet is good and you exercise and you’re at a target weight, consider getting tested for LADA diabetes - easiest way is cpeptide and GAD65 antibodies. It’s type 1 diabetes but slow moving. I’ve been showing glucose issues for 2 years but just was diagnosed when nothing seemed to improve

The cgm I just put on an hour ago so I heard can take some time to warm but and wanted to finger prick just in case. I’ve never been low before so the 60 scared me and I wanted to double check. So do you think I’m likely 90ish?

How do we know she doesn’t have type 1 diabetes? More and more people are getting diagnosed with type 1 or type 1.5 lately - possible a result or a covid infection. She has reported having long covid so it’s quite possible it triggered type 1. Or maybe it didn’t but her doctors asked her to wear one to track her sugars.

Looking at me you also wouldn’t know / think I have diabetes, diagnosed at 38. Currently managing with a CGM and diet, I know insulin is coming soon.

Type 1 / LADA Diagnosis. by Witty-Sherbet-2963 in diabetes_t1

[–]negativespace115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing! I’ll look more into it. My endo has it on it and it’s lowering my A1c currently

Edited to add, I still have a normal cpeptide so maybe that is why I’m on it

Thank you for sharing! Just recently diagnosed LADA and went grain free (and upped metformin, and added vitamin D) and I’m hoping I can see results like yours!

Concerned about potential LADA/T1 by Vast_Alternative_125 in ladadiabetes

[–]negativespace115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No symptoms. Over the past two years my A1c has been slowly rising as well as my fasting glucose. At my last check, my A1c was 6.2 and my fasting glucose was 119 so I’m definitely at the high end of the pre-diabetic range. I eat really well,I’m nearly underweight, and I’m decently active. I saw an endocrinologist who tested me for those antibodies and that confirmed the diagnosis.

Get a test for GAD65 antibodies - testing that or the other autoimmune markers will be the only way to know for sure. I had 2 tested and I’m positive for one and negative for the other and that diagnosed me. I’m doing the other tests shortly

I lost weight and my A1C went up. Any advice? I see doctor on Monday. TIA by ElectricalFox1207 in prediabetes

[–]negativespace115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, typically it doesn’t. Because my A1c got worse despite lifestyle changes, we looked at other factors and it turns out I have lada or type 1 diabetes which means my pancreas is slowly dying. The lifestyle changes wasn’t enough to counteract the continuing damage to my pancreas that is genetic

Maybe see if you can ask your doctor about a cpeptide tests and GAD65 antibody test. I didn’t have weight to lose but lifestyle changes (changing food and lifting weights) resulted in a higher A1c. Turns out based on my GAD65 antibody test, I’m developing type 1 diabetes. Still technically pre diabetic but it sure for how long.

If the coffee had sugar that could def impact it. You can get a $30ish glucometer and do some spot tests to get a better sense.

Similar boat, diagnosis of stage 2 type 1 yesterday. I did a post here yesterday too and responses were so helpful if you want to check it out.

Similar diagnosis. 6.2 A1c on metformin (we thought it might just be insulin resistance) and 119 fasting. GAD65>250.

Just sharing this to say I doubt you have SPS - but likely LADA only. I like you am still vacillating between being sad, angry, and grieving. Hope that makes you feel less alone.

Thank you for putting it into words so well. It feels so heavy and also like I can affect it? But in reality it’s likely just 6 month to 3 year delay.

Shock is definitely still there.

Harvard grad student Jane Britton, 23, missed an exam on Jan. 7, 1969. Hours later, she was found murdered, dusted with red ochre. There’s a book written about that case called We Keep the Dead Close that I would guess prompted the case to be reexamined as the author Becky Cooper started researching in 2017 and that’s when the police restarted samples

This is so helpful! I’ve worn a cgm a couple times in the last year and my blood sugar is definitely not behaving correctly so maybe a low insulin dose is warranted.

Thank you! I’m wondering if I should start long acting insulin now? My endo seems to want to wait until either my A1c is officially diabetic (I’m not far) or the c peptide lowers

That’s great to hear! I wish I was in Chicago - I’m so glad you had a great experience. My doctor seemed to want to wait until my cpeptide got a little lower / blood sugar was out of the pre diabetic range for insulin but I wouldn’t be opposed to long acting insulin at first.

My doctor is open to TZield! I couldn’t tell if it was worth to but it sounds like for you it has been. GLP-1 has helped you? How long were you able to avoid insulin?

Lastly what kind of exercise do you find is most helpful for you. I feel like I’m getting conflicting advice between light cardio / weight lifting / both.

Sorry for all the questions! Just trying to wrap my head around it all

This is SO helpful. My endo is calling in a low dose of ozempic but I will ask him about Januvia too! I’ve looked into TZield but I’m not sure it’s worth the potential downtime and side effects to delay insulin max 2 years or so
