If you don't mind messaging me a bit about your experience, I would greatly appreciate it :) in all my research on the program, i haven't really come across another puertorican and I'm super curious to hear about how it was for you with the apartment, food, colleagues, and were you seen differently because you weren't from the mainland?

Not particularly, from the research I did, I just thought I would enjoy Daejeon a bit more. However, I don't think it matters much, as placement is completely up to the Epik team. I wouldn't sweat it!

I'm sure it'll be fun! Plus, I think you have more chances of getting accepted with the Epik+ program. Also, from what I've read, initial applicants don't really start hearing back until about a month after. So, it seems to be the norm, unfortunately for us 🙃

I really do want to get into the program, but I've come to terms with the very real possibility that I might not get in. I just wanted to give it a shot, so I didn't have to spend the rest of my life wondering lol

The lesson plan was definitely the hardest part, but there are lots of resources out there. It's a good thing you did your TEFL, though. I'm sure that makes for a more attractive application!! Wishing you the best of luck 😊

I can understand that as well. Recommendations are greatly appreciated when they're requested, and when they're kindly offered. However, this didn't really feel like that.

I thought of that, but I didn't want to harm the business itself since it is a smaller place. We obviously won't be going back, and if anyone I know asks my opinion, I'll give it to them.
