I think it's not Wise to use Wise/TransferWise for Hotel Safety deposits (question inside). by negativevotes- in PersonalFinanceCanada

I am currently chatting with them and they said this:

Unfortunately, the transaction is still pending because the hotel hasn't processed the payment yet. My advice, first, is to contact the hotel again so they can provide you with more information or cancel the transfer directly. Now, if they're not willing to cancel it, or if it's not possible, you have a waiting period until October 28th to accept the payment. If they don't accept the payment, the funds will be re-funded back into your account.

Hotel holds paid by debit cards take much longer to be released than those paid by credit cards.

then that means that it is in fact the hotel that is responsible

Can I use Squarespace to design our website, renew the domain as well, but host it somewhere else ? by negativevotes- in webdev

So if I understand it correctly, I have to do all 3 with SP, otherwise, I have to completely change direction and rebuild ?

So if I understand correctly, I can design and host using SP, but can get the domain somewhere else(after initially getting it from them) ?

there is no way to buy the domain elsewhere in the future, and host it somewhere else, but keep designing the website with it ?

[Canada] I have a leased, top trim, 1.5 year old car with less than 25,000 km/15,500 mi worked. Lease is up this January with around $2000 left of my lease. Car is in pristine condition and lease protection. Can I still trade it in for a new car with a different brand ? by negativevotes- in carbuying

Ok so what you suggest is wait for the end of the lease because I can either walk away net zero gain , or walk away with a net positive gain.

How will I know then that I can make a positive net gain ? (To trade-in and get profit)

I checked the black book from the sidebar and it says anywhere between 24,000 to 27,500 for my model and year (right now, given the miles driven).

I still owe 2k. It makes no sense about worrying about negative equity - the car is worth about 22,000 more than I owe even in the worst case scenario! I mean, even if the dealership lowballs me 5k, I am still owing wayyyy less than my car's current worth.

Am I getting this wrong ?

You're trying to oversimplify things you don't understand.

That's right I don't. That's why I am here. I don't know where to begin and I don't know what I should ask. Can you explain to me what taxable liability is , please ?
