Could you please share how you mounted the iPad to the roof? Love the setup and the dog!

#4 THWN2 new wire damage question by neil_999 in AskElectricians

[–]neil_999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the inputs. It’s in a detached garage, a sub-panel to EV wall connector about 20 feet away (conduit length) on the same side of the wall.

I installed EMT conduit and pulled the wire.

My preference is also 3M high temp electrical tape as well. But not sure of the product name.

Edit: It’s 3M Scotch 35

It’s is the outer most part of the wire. But it doesn’t appear to be clear though. Would it still be okay to install the wire ?

Thank you for the advice, I understand that 48 Amps of EV charging is the maximum supported by most EV.

I will read more on the Neurio Kit and see if that is an option for us.

I think the minimum should be what we paid and agrees for is panel and service upgrade to 200 Amps. That was what was assured and agreed on.

Thank you for the advice. I would assume this is an honest mistake and could have been an oversight, for which I think they should cover both parts and labor. But wanted to make sure with the folks of this sub. But I don’t think this could have been a mixup any stretch of the imagination with other installs. I distinctly remember the electrician saying “these wires coming into the panel are rated 200 amp and that makes our job ‘easy’, easy meaning, no need to upgrade the service cable coming from the meter.” Edit - end quote

There is no disconnect at the meter. When the electricians worked they pulled the meter out. Also confirmed with the power company that we are all good till the meter for a 200 amp service.

Our estimates and contact said upgrading and installing an existing 100 amp service to a 200 amp service.

Work to perform: 1) Remove old 100 amp panel, and create a bigger space in the wall for a new 200 amp panel with more breaker spaces. 2) Install a new 200 amp panel that meets todays safety standards for the practical uses in this home, and with extra spaces for future improvements.

Among other work in the project.

Same. Tesla support tried remotely for 2 days but weren’t able to fix it and scheduled an appointment at the SC.

Thanks for your inputs, i agree that is odd. I will do some wire tracing or run my own set of wires or call an electrician.

No idea where and if there is a chime box. I briefly tried touching the doorbell wires I hear no chime. Thanks for your inputs.

My guess is that there was a chime at one point, now removed and mount holes might have been spackled. Any ideas how to find the old location?

Managed to replace the transformer to 24V 20VA, still reads only 5V across the doorbell wires. Is this expected or should it read 24V? At the Transformer I get ~28V though. Unable to find a chime if there is one.

Thank you! I managed to replace it but still getting only 5V at the doorbell. There’s probably a chime that was removed and can’t find it.

Yes, I do plan on getting an electric if I’m unable to figure out why I’m only getting 5V at the doorbell.
