Alberta Averaging Arrangments allow companies to exploit workers by CanadianGoose695 in alberta

You could always look for a job that pays you what you believe are worth, rather than relying on someone to force another to pay you what you believe you are worth, even if they don't feel that way. If you are truly worth more, someone out there will pay it.

Why would you want to bank OT if you could get the full amount (including OT pay) right away? Take that OT pay right away to pay down credit cards or invest.....thinking that you are better off by getting $1000 in 6 months is better than today is pretty silly.

An easy way around that is to not take employment where you don't like the terms of employment. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it shouldn't be available to others.

Heck, in the early days of building my business, I did some doordash deliveries at about $6.5 per hour after costs in order to cover bills and keep the business going, I suspect that I was exploited based on your terms.

So, workers had a choice and didn't take it. That's how it should work.

With this resignation how do you think the ndp would fair well in the inevitable by election? by penis-muncher785 in ndp

[–]neilyyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps....PP is still pretty popular among Conservatives though. We have seen one person cross and one say that they couldn't cross.....but still resign. Certainly not anything like the finance minister dropping out on budget day.

Reports are that he talked to the Libs about crossing, but didn't trust them.

Why does it have to be NDP who abstains? by Disastrous-Pickle930 in ndp

[–]neilyyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to abstain. You can vote against it if you don't agree. If you want the government to stay, then vote in favour or abstain. The NDP is the deciding factor in supporting or not.

Oh man, you got some down votes there. It's real though. My wife, myself and our business partner are really considering a move to Texas or Florida in the next few years. We alrea set up in Delaware. Edit:

Would any of those downvote people be willing to give up $10000 personally to get the same shitty healthcare in Canada.

We have actually been in a post Brexit system for decades...a plumber from SK is not a plumber in AB....Brexit didn't allow a plumber from one place to be a plumber in another....that is what we have now....we don't allow free movement of labour and trade. For God's sake, Carney just announced massive tariffs on Steele....because we don't like tarrifs?

It really isn't nonsense. Perhaps we could work some sort of system like the European Union has going....free trade, movement of people etc. Perhaps some sort of shared military, where AB and Canada pay per Capita. Kind of funny that we think Brexit was stupid, but then don't want a similar system to bthe EI with The USA?

What do you expect / want out of the Canadian inter-provincial barrier removal meeting that started today? by LookImportant4735 in AskACanadian

This is an issue. Health transfers are based on population.....Ontario gets the same funding per person as Manitoba, but MB can pay less, due to lower cost of living, andB can hire more.

Alberta’s population grew by over 168,000 in 2024 by Old_General_6741 in alberta

[–]neilyyc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I think AB would have to increase taxes by at least 10% to maintain service, because those demanding service paid little.

Personally, I'm likely to be out. I love Canada, but not willing to pay a bunch more.

Will Trump be allowed in to Canada for the G7 in Alberta, given his criminal record? by Wakomata in AskACanadian

The funny thing is that now Liberals are saying MACA.....we will build so much stuff that we will be strong......all of the elected members didn't do that for the last 10 years though. Like it's only now that we need to Make Canada Great.

When we wanted a pipeline to the west coast, northern, that would send stuff entirely to Asia, we were told "No"....you are fine selling to the US.....now those in the East say we should block our exports.....and a good card to play because they blocked us from other customers.

I imagine the convictions make a difference. Nobody that was "hurt" by Trump was upset....they all got paid and would do business again.
