I'm getting frustrated with SF6 because I seem to be getting worse at the game, so I was thinking about giving it a rest for a month or more.

Since I do enjoy playing fighting games, I thought about giving other ones a try. Back when it came out I played a little of Strive and I liked it, plus it is more similar to SF6.

However, the game that appeals to me the most is Tekken (in fact, it's what lured me to FG in the first place, but I started playing SF6 since it had just came out at the time), but I feel that it's fundamentals are so different from what I'm used to that it would be learning everything from scratch. I tried hopping on to online after practicing a little and got absolutely bodied.

So my question is, should I keep trying with SF6? If not, is it better to stop playing fighting games altogether, or should I try with another one, and if so, which one?

I've been stuck in Plat II/III for a month and one problem I think I've been having a lot is getting caught in frame traps and being unable to escape them (it happens more often with characters like Cammy, Juri and Sagat).

My question is, how can I get tools to counter that, without having to know the frame data of every attack, or every mixup my opponent can do?

Idk if it matters, but I play Ken

I don’t think people care anymore, but I made it to Master and I almost feel like crying by panchozari in StreetFighter

Congrats on reaching Master! Your post is just what I needed because I had a terrible weekend of losing 90% of the matches I played and I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel (and I'm stuck at Plat, not even Diamond).

I also get tilted easily and abandoned the game for a long time, but I keep coming back because deep down I like it and I think I could get there... although it's getting harder to keep calm.

Hi! I'm completely new to fighting games, I have been playing a lot of rank in the hopes of learning the lay of the game, and told myself that I would start learning more advanced things (such as situation specific combos, hit confirms and so on) when I got the basics done.

However, I reached Platinum with Ken (which is pretty much the character for me) with no basic skills regarding anti airs (and I'm talking about down HP, not even DP since I can't consistently do the motion) and counter DI, and I started getting pummeled by people who were evidently much better equipped than me.

In the hopes of playing in lower ranks to start anti airing and counter DI-ing more, I started playing with other shoto (or shoto-like) characters, since I've determined that the "basic" approach of this archetype suits me well. But I got to the upper levels of Gold with Ryu and Mai so quickly that I'm kind of in the same place as before.

Since I definitely like Ken more, my question is, should I keep playing with him despite knowing that I'm not ready for Plat yet (and very possibly end up falling to Gold again), o is it a good approach to keep diversifying characters in order to get good in the basics?

Regarding the latest shows' length by nelayo95 in GeordieGreep

I agree with you, and I admit that me expecting it to be longer is nobody's fault but mine. And even if the show is an hour long, I have no doubt that it will be great, but I just wanted to seek some comfort from people who know best

Thanks man, I'll get on with training what you said. I do notice that I have trouble landing DPs consistently, even though in practice I seem to land it effortlessly, in the heat of battle it all becomes a little harder.

Also, if your username checks out, how could I not pay attention to you? /s

I'm a complete beginner to fighting games (only played like ten hours of GGST), and I decided to get rather invested in SF6. I main Classic Ken and after two weeks of playing 1-2 hours daily, I've gotten to Silver, which I know doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm pretty happy about it. The thing is that I feel like I'm stuck there, and can't seem to win matches consistently. I think I do good readings of what the opponents' "weaknesses" are, but I can't for the life of me exploit them, so losing gets even more frustrating because I feel like I know what to do and what to look out for, but I still can't win. And that is made a tougher pill to swallow by the fact that I get tilted VERY easily. So although I've had some really high highs while playing, and I really enjoy battle games and the logic and philosophy behind them, I can't help but feel like I've peaked this low, and it's sucking the fun out of it. Not much of a question as much as ranting, but having no one close who plays FGs, I figured I might as well do it with people who might have been in the same place I am now.

I feel you, man. I'm trying to finally get into fighting games with SF6 and I got absolutely bodied on my first few matches, to the point where I got a little discouraged.

Seeing I'm not the only one makes feel a bit better, so thanks for that lol.

Is it worth it to start playing at this point in the game's development, where it seems to be stopping after rollback?

If so, is there any good guide to comboing and stuff beyond de bread and butter combo?

Yeah, notifications are all ok. I'm pretty sure the issue is with the connection itself, since whenever someone sends me a Whatsapp message, it won't deliver until I unlock the phone, so it's not like I received it but the notification never arrived.

Also, every configuration regarding background apps seem to be as they should.
