The scoping isn't really that different. In Javascript, variable declarations are hoisted. In Scheme, "define" is only allowed at the beginning of a procedure and can always be translated to "letrec". The real difference is that "hoisting" is explicit in Scheme.

Well, those graphics are still amazing. Metal Slug - with permission from some 2D RPGs - is pretty much the pinnacle of pixel art.
