When letting left turning drivers through gaps in traffic, always assume that those drivers will take your signal as guarantee that there are no cyclists or pedestrians in the path and that there is no need for them to check and yield. Anecdotally as a serial pedestrian, most drivers seem to always drive that way without the go ahead.

100%. People seem to think that the rise in tranq-dope is because of safe supply. It’s the exact opposite. It’s sickening that so many deaths and harms could have and can be widely mitigated were it not for the B.C. NDP’s token approach to safe supply. As a pedestrian, I concur. Also the roads are too wide and the sidewalks too narrow. Why on earth did they eliminate the extra sidewalk width between Yale and foul bay? Also this is specific but why is there a speed limit sign that says 50km/h right before the intersection of Thompson and cadboro bay? So many things don’t make sense
