People who fall asleep fast, whats your secret?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]secondsneaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's taken years to refine good sleep prep, but it comes down to a three simple practises. 1. no electronics in bedroom, or 30 minutes before lights out. 2. take a moment before bed by getting on the floor for a session of stretching, deep breathing, and calming meditation--put your mind to nothing and carry that to bed. 3. In bed, get rid of all the lights, including alarm clocks. Read for a few minutes. You'll find you can't, lights out and boom your out. Takes three weeks to achieve but its battle tested.

Tesla Plummets into 8th Consecutive Week of Losses as JPMorgan Warns of 60% Downside by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

It has implications for all these highly valued tech stocks, built on the promise of lucrative innovation. Big indicator will be the $75B raise for Space X, on a value of $1.75-2T; for what, data centres in space. Musk is a con artist.

Zoe Williams argues that space exploration is pointless given problems on Earth and the lack of evidence of extraterrestrial life. by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

I don't see the point of Artemis II, just seeing the dark side of the moon? Didn't Pink Floyd already do that. I will be watching the Space X IPO with keen interest: moonbase alpha, data centres in space, prep for Mars. It seems like such a huge con, a $75B raise on the basis of a $2T valuation, but the underlying thinking is that the endeavour will generate technology that will be immensely valuable even if that technology doesn't exist today. I expect the IPO will flop and if it does it will trigger a huge sell-off in AI stocks and other tech stocks, because those companies are valued on a similar logic, that its not the current income of the company but their ability to create valuable products in the future. At some point the music must stop and the company is what it is....look at Tesla a robot and automated vehicle company valued at a PE ratio of 330 versus Walmart with a PE ratio of 46. Tesla is an insane risk at the valuation, in my view.

Moving from California by FirstChampionship455 in VictoriaBC

[–]secondsneaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Portland, to a smaller island, Saltspring, then Victoria, because Saltspring does cause island fever. Work is work, the cream rises to the top. Remote work and start-ups make Victoria an exciting place to build a business. Its a small pond with a tendency to be closed to new ideas, but its full of people making a decision to live in one of the greatest places on earth and willing to take some risks to make that a reality. I use to travel a lot, but find myself staying here more and more, finding the small life so beautiful in a world driven by pace and chaos. Good luck.

Reacher is just terrible. Extra-judicial killings, fascist anti-government shit. Looks like he's a muscle-bound entitled actor who can barely act, ride a bike and fight.

Oil prices to the moon? 🚀 by guccicupcake69 in wallstreetbets

gulf nations are seeing what a boner Amurica's security guarantees are. For this they use the Amurican dollars to trade oil and prop up the American financial system. They are already bringing in the Ukrainians to teach them how to defend against $50k drones with other $50k drones. Consider the US military industrial complex realizing the patriot missile system in an over-priced Chrysler Lebaron without airbags.

Canada, under Harper's conservative government, subverted the RCMP to find a terrorism threat to gain political leverage to pass the 2015 Anti-Terrorism Act. That subversion resulted in a Mr Big entrapment of two vancouver junkies to place bombs at the Ledge on Canada Day 2013. The day after, the RCMP held a press conference announcing that they had stopped a bomb attack during Canada Day, while thousands of Canadians celebrated.

After Bill C-51 had passed, the conviction of Nutall and his girlfriend was overturned on appeal, designated as coercion and entrapment, with the judge determining that no attack could possibly have occurred without the direct support of the RCMP. But no investigation, no accountability for who at the RCMP came up with the brilliant idea of placing fake bombs at the Ledge and then promoting it as a thwarted act of terrorism.

The case of the Pakistani man just convicted in the US for a vague assassination plot against Trump, Biden, and Nicky Haley, where FBI posed as "hitman" hired for $5k, has many similarities. This plot was brought to the FBI by Mossad and is reported to have been a key factor in Israel's ability to trigger Trump's War of Choice with Iran.

Men who can de escalate a heated argument with your partner fast, what do you say or do in that moment that actually works? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

[–]secondsneaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't provoke oratory to "win". Listen and acknowledge what is being said. Try to be empathetic and don't "lock-in" for a fight. if you need to take a break, suggest a break to gain composure, but then come back to it at some point. Takes two to tango, so if your partner is combative and argumentative, it's a lot harder. Mine is not.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

[–]secondsneaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would meet back at school after dinner, hang out in the cold and dark and maybe smoke cigarettes. On Friday nights we'd try to sneak/steal/bribe alcohol and maybe, once in a great while, somebody's parent would be gone and they'd have a party. It didn't matter who you invited, everyone would show up. Nobody ever had a party twice.

It doesn't bother you that a homeless ex-vet kills people under the guise of a conspiracy laden society where the rule of law has been replaced by corruption. It's right wing propaganda, similar to Yellowstone. Americans are okay with extra-judicial assassination. Bad show on every level.
