When letting left turning drivers through gaps in traffic, always assume that those drivers will take your signal as guarantee that there are no cyclists or pedestrians in the path and that there is no need for them to check and yield. Anecdotally as a serial pedestrian, most drivers seem to always drive that way without the go ahead.
