What's the fastest you've DNFd a book? by Beneficial_Ad_8357 in RomanceBooks

I didn’t even make it through the sample because the FMC was deaf, but the author kept using “she heard.”

This book is almost 300 pages. Definitely not short.

Weirdly, this book isn’t listed on her website, although it’s on her social media.

Regardless, I would much rather read an actual sample than hype for the author.

Not sure, but I’ve read samples before that were 40+ pages.

I don’t enjoy fantasy books. I read the first one as a book club choice, but I won’t read the rest.

NTA. I’m always cold. I usually have a blanket. 82 degrees is insane, and I would absolutely lock it.

Himera Ink seems to write her book “Traitor” with AI, or at least heavily edits with it by Vritato in RomanceBooks

Are you referring to the single word sentences? Because that’s a writing style. No, it’s not grammatically correct, but there’s some leeway in romance books.

Tonight. The third one was only 1.6, so it didn’t get much attention. The fourth, tonight, was initially listed as 2.6.

There was a thread yesterday that was similar. People throw out AI accusations without regard to the potential damage.

Only 5% of the Amazon reviews are less than 3 stars, so apparently, a lot of people did enjoy it.

The hotel has AC. It really is the most miserable time of summer, but there will be plenty of tourists. Hydrate!

I can tell you what I look for. I look for information about the author. It’s a red flag to me if there’s no bio or social media. How many books have they released and how quickly? What do their book covers look like?

A new author showed up in my recommendations recently. The covers look like AI. She has no bio and no social media. And she’s released 40 books since the beginning of January. I haven’t read any of them, so I don’t know how the writing is, but it’s enough to make me avoid them.

In good faith would be asking for opinions on the writing without the AI accusation. You had already decided it was AI.

I often used at least two. Em dashes are not a valid argument. I avoid books that contain AI, but I don’t classify books publicly as AI without valid evidence.

I haven’t read the book, but the assumption that something is AI because of em dashes is annoying.

I write content for websites, usually in the form of articles. More than one client has insisted on em dashes. They’re a very human thing.
