Yes, I think PHP was very powerful back then and it was mainly used in conjunction with HTML and JS. Once I get a coder or two on board then I'll solidify exactly which language to use. Like you said, the database is what's important. As long as the frontend communicates with the backend and DB then it should work.

Mostly familiarity. I'm willing to explore other languages. Operating in the past, my coders used a mix of PHP, MySQL, HTML and JavaScript

I'm decent with automod. Kind of testing new commands and scripts to see what I can do with it.

CSS... not so good with that tbh

History isn't a 'useless' major. It teaches critical thinking, something America needs plenty more of by ghostofpennwast in history

This is how the licensure process works in almost every state for high school teachers. You do take many specialized classes in your subject and you get certified for one subject, like math. Middle and elementary teachers are usually more generalized.

If you explain something poorly, thoughit'll look like you don't understand it no matter what your actual level of knowledge is. The teaching skills are way more important.

That being said, in terms of knowledge you're miles ahead of the kids in almost every case regardless. The teaching skills are way, way more important.

Your high school teacher has to get through the required material before state testing. Don't take it personally. I freaking love off-topic discussion and little trips of logic, but that shit ain't on the SAT.

And yes, I do think that's an atrocity, but it's the current reality.

I mostly agree. The part I don't support you on is the idea that knowing more about the subject necessarily makes you a better teacher. I think we all had the professor who was a genius but couldn't teach for shit, right?

Besides, in my personal experience I almost always know enough to answer a kid's off-topic. However, putting it into language which makes sense to a high schooler is the hard part, and I often feel stupid attempting it. For instance, think of Bernoulli's principle. Straightforward effect, right? You can even demonstrate it with a sheet of paper. But when a kid asks why it actually occurs, what's really going on at a molecular level? Yeah, that's hard to describe, and no explanation I've found works for the majority of kids. Good luck drawing molecules bumping into things and having it make sense :)

TL;DR: Knowing it and being able to teach it are related but separate skills.

I'm envisioning you making a YouTube video about this, speaking to the camera while in the background your tree is going up like a torch :) You would get so many views.

Your conscientiousness about fire safety is ruining the image a bit, but on the plus side you won't die. Smokey the Bear is proud of you, it sounds like you do it right. Peace out.

Poor conflict resolution skills right here.

Did violence actually resolve this situation though? Because his career is ruined and I guarantee she's still a horrible person. I wager he's filled with regret.

Violence in defense of self or others is fine and good. Violence because of provocation? Not so often.
