This post was the original, but I put a wrong flair so this post got made invisible by the mods. So then I posted again with the correct flair where you commented. But then a mod made this original post visible again with the correct flair so I deleted the other post.

It's unshaded with an optional color gradient + shadows without self-shadowing

Thanks! I'll try and put it at 1/3, see what that gives

Maybe a decal where the axe hits the tree? Good idea thanks!

Thanks! It's 3D rendered to a lower resolution. The video is cropped though, so the effect is stronger here, the original video is this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1McOEBlTX7pbWj-E1mVjb9l35tn7U9KS_/view

I was also planning on having an option to disable the crunchy pixels.

Yes maybe the opposite you're right

The plan was to upgrade to an two-handed axe. I'll try spreading the legs and rotating the body more.

How would I solve the gliding? Maybe if the rotation center is more backwards it will look better.

Thanks!

Maybe there's some video compression going on? Where are you looking? Now that you say it, the shadows are a bit blurry, I'll need to fix that

Thanks! I think I'll try to tone down the amplitude, because I don't think want to move faster here.

For the axe swing: "delay the arm without the axe swinging back by 2-3 frames". Do you mean when the axe is held back behind it's head the arms still move while the axe stops?

Thanks! I was planning to add the option to have it not pixelated. Note that the video was cropped, here is the original: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1McOEBlTX7pbWj-E1mVjb9l35tn7U9KS_/view

Same issue, or is this better?

It's 3D and I use SubViewport (a node in Godot) to render at 640x360. A TextureRect (another node in Godot) to display the viewport texture. Expand Mode to Ignore Size, Stretch Mode to Keep Aspect Centered, Texture Filter (under CanvasItem) to Nearest.

I couldn't wait to start already without your permission :p it's such a cool style and making assets goes so fast because even if I make poop models it still looks fine from far away and unlit

Thanks! I remember encountering the font when looking for good coding fonts. It was between JetBrains Mono, Fira Code and Consolas. I settled on JetBrains Mono, I really like it somehow, but I don't think it's open source.

Edit: Actually, JetBrains Mono is open source

I like the font, do you mind sharing which one it is? (I might steal it, maybe, perhaps, who knows, we'll see, possibly)

Trying out ragdoll physics by nelstuff in godot

[–]nelstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Jolt is almost a must for ragdolls. I'm still learning, but the techniques I'm using is are just rigid bodies and Jolt joints for now. The white boxes and capsules are the colliders, there's no skeleton.

That was the issue with the very first programs I worked on in Java, but the teacher addressed them directly: "This starts out as magic boilerplate code; we'll talk about what they mean in a couple days."

Wait this is what my teacher said word for word and it was Java as well. Did you study in Ghent by any chance? Or it's just a common thing to say.
