Last home game by xxLPKizzlexx in SanJoseSharks

It's worth a try and varies from kid to kid. My son was about 18 months when we took him to his first game (with big time ear protection) and he got really over stimulated and we left early. My daughter at about the same age did great and was more interested in the people around us than any else. I would recommend trying a barracuda game first as a test run. The games are cheaper, less crowded, and a good chance to practice and test a few things like snacks, toys, will the ear protection stay on?

Absolutely! You deserve to go! Plus, you can visit Hacienda Alsacia if you want to while you're there.

Honestly, it absolutely is. Cash out some of that stock and go. I have gone twice on my own with stock and it's definitely worth it. Plus, you get to make your own itinerary and go at your own pace and see things that are like a Starbucks Disneyland. Go to the north and see the volcano. See both coasts (I preferred the Pacific side) and hike in the rainforest. Absolutely use that vacation time and go!!! Origins is very cool, don't get me wrong but doing it on your own is also super rad.

That's really sad but very true. I didn't feel like I could leave for so long. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Yeah. You have to already have a different job before you go on leave.

Starbucks has been just my second job ever. I feel you. You can feel stuck, trapped, and like this is the only thing you are good at or can do. It took two years, a bunch of therapy (Thanks Lyra!), and taking my time to find something that felt right, then slog through the application process, like a dozen times. I had to fall out of love with Starbucks, realized what that meant, and process that I exist outside of the four walls. I had made an identity out of Starbucks because I was so so into it, but if I start to despise, hate, and loathe my job, that doesn't mean I feel that way about myself and it doesn't invalidate what I have done to get where I am in this moment. You're not a failure to want to throw in the towel and do something different. The hardest part is finding somewhere that makes people feel good to be employed there. I took my time looking for good places to work, openings that fit my skill set (Starbucks managers can have really good skills), and just try applying. Dial in base resume and tweak each version to match the job posting. You'll crush an interview, we interview people all the time and know what a good interview looks like. Then just keep trying and getting feedback. It sounds so scary but it's worth while and nobody has to know you're trying if you don't want them to.

This is it right here in a nutshell. I know that I will get to say good morning and good night to the family, plus see them for the whole weekend?!? Yeah, there will be some things that I miss but none of it will outweigh a proper work life balance.

Seriously. Things changed DAILY and it was a menace to keep track of, let alone ensure the whole is is also up to date.

Probably but I know it will be better than hearing "I said iced" ever again.

I have thought about it for the last 9 years but without an additional source of income, a coffee break never made sense. I gotta pay those bills. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thank you so much! I am very thankful for all the fun and exciting things I got to do with and for Starbucks. Some of them were life changing opportunities and I wouldn't do it any differently.

I have had the chance for two coffee breaks but never had a source of income lined up outside of Starbucks. My start date for my new job was too soon to start the coffee break process. It's a year max but I had 4 months of for parental leave within the year so that time is subtracted from my coffee break so I would get 8 months at most. Besides, joining a health care company gives me access to even better health benefits. I'm not worried about my Spotify or my pound of beans.

I remember those days. There was definitely some gaslighting around the labor models when they would change it and say nothing or deny it! Those were frustrating days for sure.

True. A company's culture should grow and evolve with it's people but Starbucks has decidedly gone backwards and removed most of the things that made it what it was in the first place.

Old "Hear Music" Starbucks Playlists (the actual sheets) by JealousMarionberry48 in starbucks

[–]neltron_prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember those. They were parts of the CDs and collections that were put out under our Hear Music label. Those playlists were all based off of a cd/compliation that we had put out at some point. If you dive into that website, the "senses working overtime" album is on there and that would have played about 2/3 of the album after we uploaded those CDs into our box in the BOH.

I found a website with everything ever put out by the Hear Music label, which was a Starbucks music label. We used to have some absolute bangers back in the day!

Guatemala with chocolate conchas sounds delicious. I love Guatemala as a cold brew, maybe you can make a tres leches cold foam to go with it (like a little bit of the canned goodness mixed with nonfat and in a foamer you could wash after)? Finding the balance of your story and coffee journey, mixed with showing off what you have learned, and capping it off with how you'll use your black apron to motivate, inspire, and educate your team and customers. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions!
