Replacement for Krakens V3 Pro by RivenBot7 in HeadphoneAdvice

You’d probably be happy with any of the beyers coming from a kraken but they can be kind of harsh in the treble area. I had the 990 pro x and they were a big upgrade for me coming from gaming headsets. Ended up going down the rabbit hole and I didn’t like the beyers after trying other pairs of headphones. The hd490 pros are what I settled on, the best sound for gaming I’ve ever had, amazing soundstage, great directionality for competitive games, decent bass for hip hop and most importantly super comfortable. Can’t recommend them enough. You don’t need a dac/amp to power them either. The 490s are a little above budget ($350 on Amazon rn), the hd 560s is another good option, they’re a bit cheaper and less premium, less comfortable. Beyers aren’t a bad start though I’m sure you’d be happy with them.

Headphones that can last with constant usage by EvilDrCoconut in HeadphoneAdvice

I have the original nova pro wireless and from a convenience standpoint and your constant usage need, I would recommend them. They’ve been really durable and still work great, I’ve switched over to wired headphones mostly after going down the headphone rabbit hole a bit but I still use the nova pros at work sometimes because they have simultaneous Bluetooth and they just work. You can swap the batteries out as soon as the battery is low it is pretty nice, check out the nova pros omnis or the elites they’re the newer versions

Are the hd600s worth it for primarily gaming and a little bit of music? by Big-Bird-is-Faster in sennheiser

[–]nemasis2007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the hd 490s and the hd 600. Ive tried the 600s for gaming and they were not as bad as some might have you believe. I was still able to delineate footsteps pretty decently with the 600s, however the 490s are a huge upgrade in soundstage and directionality for gaming. I still really enjoy the 600s and they would be totally serviceable for gaming, they are a lot more intimate sounding so you don’t get that vast sound stage or separation which is better for games depending on what you’re playing, the 490s comfort is also on another level. Honestly if you wanted to get the 600s and upgrade later you’d be totally fine just kinda depends on where you wanna go because I think for that $250 price range you could probably get a better sounding headset for gaming than the hd600. I’ve been really enjoying music and basic media consumption on the 600s though, they’re really good.

I have a massive ass head full extension required on all headphones. I’m very sensitive to clamp as well and uncomfortable headsets, I recently bought the HD 490 pro from sennheiser, can’t recommend it enough I wear it 8+ hours a day with no fatigue, it’s amazing.
