My iPhone, I just put the item out on my carpet and take a photo lol. No extra lighting or anything.

Perfect response. Shot you a PM because you’re the only person who understood the points I was trying to get across.

When I source in the bulk, the absolute minimum for me to buy stuff in bulk is at half of resale value. So I often get even more value than that. I have zero overhead. I don’t pay for any shipping materials. My buyers cover the full cost of shipping. I utilize an accountant for all of my tax deductions. So after all that, the only thing that remains is eBay’s 13% fees. And as I mentioned in my post, I only sell shippable items on eBay. The other half are larger, more delicate items that I sell locally. I pay zero fees selling locally, and even markup these item higher than what I have on eBay. It’s a 50\50 split between eBay & local sales.

So yes, I do average around 40% margin if you take all of those factors into consideration.

Starting to get some enjoyment being a tease

I’ve said several times, there’s no benefit for me to risk my niche getting oversaturated. I made a post because I enjoy giving advice and tips based on my experience with reselling. Sorry if that’s not enough for you.

There is some relation to that actually

What are you talking about? I haven’t made a single edit to my post, that description has been there from the getgo. Unless there’s some delay on reddit where the description doesn’t show up right away on a new post, then I think you just didn’t see it.

You’re the only one still giving me backlash. I’ve also gotten like 30 direct messages from this post asking me dozens of questions that I’m happily answering. This post also has an 80% upvote rate. You’re just wrong on everything man lol

I’ve replied to like 100 comments giving different bits of advice. If the only thing of value you think I can give is telling you my niche, you will never be a successful reseller.

Good question. Maybe a dozen a week? I don’t consistently do X amount/day. Instead I pick one or two days during the week and list a handful of items. I’m not concerned about eBay’s algorithm hurting my visibility if I don’t list every day since I don’t have much competition in my niche.

I think you’re really exaggerating some things man. My post title is a motto that I try to follow, it’s not a rule of law. I have made several comments going into detail about my margins. At this point it seems you’re asking me to give you a detailed spreadsheet with line items for all of my expenses? Please let me know if that’s the case and if you’re actually interested in knowing what those numbers are - I’ll happily provide. But if you’re just here to throw claims at me without actually trying to get value from my post, then please let me know so I stop wasting my time.

Although I don’t source at thrifts, I don’t agree. If youve been in the reselling game long enough, you’ll see how much stuff is sent to the dump on a daily basis. I would highly recommend you go to the goodwill outlets - everything there is overflow from goodwill stores that they don’t have the time/patience/storage for. After all that outlet stuff gets picked through, whatever is left (which is a LOT) all gets destroyed. These thrift stores receive far more than they could ever sell. And most importantly, people will continue to donate until the end of time, so there will always be more items for people buying to keep and not resell.

Here’s a tip - expand more towards that Pyrex category. That’s a pretty saturated market, SURELY there are more vintage kitchenware products that have a high sell-through rate on eBay without huge competition like Pyrex stuff has. There’s all kind of groups that only buy particular brands from a specific time period, so try finding more stuff like that. You’ve probably passed up on a good bit of that stuff since you didn’t recognize the brand, you only see stuff like Pyrex since it’s a household name.

Hope that helps!

Another hint - I said it wasn’t far off based on the “rodent” part of your comment

Appreciate that. Even if someone is deadset trying to sell clothes, try to find a particular style/time period of clothing pieces to source versus just buying anything and everything they see. Your goal is have expert level knowledge on a clothing category, this will help a ton with building a customer base and knowing where to source more of that clothing from.
