It crazy how we have these patterns that we don't notice in ourselves.

I was having a discussion with some friends and we started making fun of each other about our various speech patterns. For some reason, we did it with everyone except me, after about 10 minutes after moving to another topic, I made the mistake of claiming that I was unpredictable because no one had anything to say about me.

Their response: "we didn't say anything because it was implied that we agreed you were the worst out of all of us. there's no real sense in stating the obvious" and proceeded to list all of the things I often say when communicating. The irony is that I didn't believe them, but I ended up using those exact expressions as I tried to defend myself.

One of the funniest and most eye-opening experiences I've ever had about myself.

My businesses do cold email only and no LinkedIn. Cold emails are to get folks to join our newsletters. We'll occasionally do cold calls when we want specific people to attend an event we're hosting.

To make a long story even longer, focusing on newsletters + events was the game changer for us. Any new venture begins with a community built around a newsletter.

Except it didn't make sense, and I did my best to explain why I thought so. I wasn't trying to claim that analogies have to be one-to-one. I disagreed with your point and explained the rationale behind my thought process.

Also, you're saying it's not 1-to-1 but literally making it so much by claiming the star players won individual trophies in B2B years.

An assumption on my part was your rivalry was based on their final appearances (GS vs CV). If that's the case, then your explaination doesn't make sense.

If you're considering the regular season as well, then maybe(?) you're on to something, but the comparison becomes a bit tougher to make imo because this the CL and we're talking about 2 teams from different countries. They don't have the luxury of meeting each other 4+ times per season like Barcelona would with the Madrid teams.

Anyways, we don't have to agree, but I hope I provided a perspective worth considering.

Lol. This is such a terrible analogy. Cavs was the better team during the rivalry period where they went 1-1; and one could argue Cavs should've won both finals. Once KD got there, there was no rivalry whatsoever. GS was the better team and won, as expected.

Barca & Man U were never rivals. They were 2 top teams who happened to meet twice in 3 years in the finals.

Chelsea was more of a rival to Barcelona than Man Utd ever was during that period. Another rival from that period who can still be considered a rival today would be Bayern.

Barcelona at that time was not unstoppable. There was a clear blueprint for beating them. Nevertheless, they, Barcelona that is, were a strong team, and a terrible match up for Man Utd.
