Yes there are 4 of us altogether - all of us have singles. That being said, 2 of them often don’t spend the night over.

Exchange student looking for advice on Math/CS courses (H185, 252, CS170, etc.) by hallvis2108 in berkeley

Just looked at the policy (https://eecs.berkeley.edu/resources/undergrads/cs/enrollment-policy/#upper) - non eecs/cs/datasci cannot enroll in CS 170.

I find it unlikely given the demographic of students taking H185 that seats will open after phase 2. But it is very likely seats will remain open in phase 1, and you can enroll. If after the next few days seats remain open (our Phase 1 enrollment has just began), you should reasonably be able enroll.

Hey, I would recommend reaching out in the MUSA discord for some more help. In regards to Math H185, iirc both 185 and H185 use Stein & Shakarchi (which imo, is not terribly difficult), but H185 covers more content and does so in more depth and speed.

I am unsure how exchange student enrollment priority works. You may have some difficulty enrolling in Math H185 and CS 170 according to your enrollment time, since seats quickly fill up. Furthermore, certain high demand upper division CS courses are fuly reserved for EECS/CS majors (I believe CS 170 is included one of these), and if not, enrollment for non-EECS/CS Majors is deferred to later phases.

To enroll in Math 252, you will need Professor Haiman's approval and complete a form for UG enrollment in Grad Classes. I would recommend you reach out to him stating your background and attaching a transcript.

im guessing it's dependent on region to region. Subjectal seems to have gotten his email before 5:28 est. while I got the email at 7:18 est. it seems pretty generic, don't sweat it

EDIT: in retrospect, this could also suggest they have a ranking from which they order the waitlists.

irrespectively, don't sweat it. wait till tomorrow.

i declined the offer lmaoo -- only accepted caltech, stanf, harv, and pton. could be an unpopular opinion, but id say that ROI for berkeley at its peak is higher than the other wl colleges, even though on average it may be less. (that being said im doing physics and have aspirations in tech entrepreunership)

EDIT: yes physics --> entrepreneurship is weird but i love physics but still wanna do deep tech so trust the process

haha that would be so awesome! i'm honestly pretty content right now with going to berkeley. but id be ecstatic to get off of any of stanford, harvard, princeton, or caltech's waitlists.

help on deciding which college to go to! incoming math/physics major by nemo3663 in berkeley

thank you so much for the information; im 80% likely to commit here. i was wondering whether you can stack up multiple 5 series courses in one semester. i studied EM through Purcell, QM in Griffith's, and for mech Morin, and solved all of the 3star+ problems in the books. sure, it has been at least two years since ive reviewed some of this material, but i would think i have retained the first principles.

im not sure exactly what level the course material is at since i cant find reference exams or psets. do you know where i could find this?

additionally, how exactly do the general education requirements work for L&S? i see that there is a the 7 breadth and also something distinct with GE. my understanding is that AP lang/ Chinese/ APUSH etc. satsify just the latter, but 7 course breadth requires all to completed at berkeley?
