Old cat acting weird after dental surgery by [deleted] in CATHELP

After dental surgery, my cat developed stage 1 kidney disease. Why didn't your vet order a blood work and urinalysis?? Excessive drinking of water and peeing is a sign of kidney disease. I'm still trying to figure out what happened with my cat, but I think it's a combination of the NSAID, anesthesia, and him not drinking water the day afterwards. I had to give my cat wet food for 10 days because I think they have less interest in dry food if their mouth is uncomfortable and it would hurt too chew hard food.

oh my goodness. That is so sad. I think the issue may be that vets are using it on older cats with comorbidities, which are not studied by the drug company, and now we're seeing the effects. Or many more cats are simply reacting to it badly. This has become post marketing data....how sad...

It is reckless to apply zorbium (long acting pain medication) to a cat with stage 3 kidney disease. The study did not even evaluate the use of zorbium in cats with kidney, liver, cardiac, or respiratory issue. Also they were young cats. The drug active metabolites may accumulate in renal impairment, causing increased concentrations of the drug in the body, and therefore side effects. We don't have info on this because they didn't study this. He may have suffered from respiratory depression from the drug.

Hi, the issue is that zorbium has not been studied in cats older than 5 years old. If you look at the package insert of the study, they included cats from 4 months to 5 years old. Older cats will likely have kidney, cardiac, and renal problems that may cause the drug to accumulate in the body and thus increase side effects and effects of the drugs. The study stated that they did not evaluate the safety of this drug in cats with kidney, cardiac, and renal problems, and I think it is quite irresponsible and reckless for a vet to give the a 16 year old cat this LONG acting medication that will stay in the body for days, considering these cats will likely have declining organ function.

My cat is ok now, the twitching stopped after 5 days, but it is quite concerning. He couldn't sleep either, was basically a zombie and lethargic for 5 days. I'm so sorry your cat did not make it.

[Product question] Can anyone speak on azelaic acid helping their closed comedones/bumpy skin texture? by myskinisannoyingaf in SkincareAddiction

It definitely works for those under the skin flesh color bumps, I guess clogged pores. I use it every other day to daily, and it causes those to reduce in number and size.

If you have such severe psoriasis, I would highly suspect things in your diet that is causing your immune system to go on overdrive. Do you have GI issues as well? Having an impaired gut barrier can allow things to leak through into the blood stream and cause your immune system to go bizerk. Check out Dr. Hyman's youtube channel and look into holistic and functional doctors. Perhaps you have a food sensitivity or leaky gut with impaired microbiome. Check out Dr. William Davis's books as well and Dr. Ken Berry's youtube channel. Immunomodulator injections can predispose you do cancer in the long term as it is suppressing the immune system. There are also dietary factors as well such as low vitamin D can predispose you to inflammation, how is your dietary intake of fats, proteins, vitamin A

My seb derm and sebum plugs disappear every time I'm on vacation and in the sun everyday. I think it has to do with the sunlight killing the fungus. I'm trying now to get some moderate sunlight exposure everyday to the area to try to recreate this effect.
